HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION Council Chambers, City Hall 70 Maple Street Manistee, MI 49660 MEETING MINUTES February 3, 2011 A Meeting of the Manistee City Historic District Commission was held on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 Maple Street, Manistee, Michigan. Meeting was called to order at 3:08 p.m. by Chair Kracht. ROLL CALL: Members Present: Dave Carlson, Maria DeRee, T. Eftaxiadis, Teena Kracht, John Perschbacher Members Absent: Nathaniel Neider (excused), Vacancy Others: Travis Alden (DDA/Main Street Director), Jon Rose (Community Development), Mark Fedder (Manistee County Historical Museum) Steve Harold (Manistee County Historical Museum) and Denise Blakeslee (Planning & Zoning) APPROVAL OF AGENDA: MOTION by John Perschbacher, seconded by Maria DeRee that the Agenda for the February 3, 2011 Meeting be approved. With a voice vote this motion passed unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MOTION by John Perschbacher, seconded by Maria DeRee that the Minutes of the January 6, 2011 Meeting be approved. With a voice vote this motion passed unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: Mr. Alden had a plan to show the commission and they agreed to move his report up on the agenda. Travis Alden, DDA/Main Street Director - Presented drawings that were done by SHPO for the building at 440 River Street. Consensus from the Commission was that they either plan would be acceptable. The preference was for the plan with the “Red Facade”. The Commission looks forwarded to reviewing an application. City of Manistee Historic District Commission Meeting Minutes of February 3, 2011 Page 2 OLD BUSINESS Building Rehabilitation and Managing Building Improvements Report Members of the Historic District Commission continued their discussion on the Report. Some of the suggestions will be incorporated and the Policies and Guidelines will be reviewed by Chair Kracht and Ms. Blakeslee and draft changes will be forwarded to the Commission for review at a worksession. Discussed bringing training for building owners through the DDA Design Committee. Mr. Alden will contact SHPO to see if training for Facade Improvements on a Shoestring type seminar could be arranged.
