MANISTEE AREA P. G. E COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES October 26,2000 A regularly scheduled meeting of the Manistee Area P. E.G.Coxnmission was held on October 26,2000 at 6: 00 p. m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 70 maple Street, Manistee, Michigan. MEMBERS PRESENT: J. Mencarelli, M. Carlson, M. Tillotson, F. Balcer, J. Ball MEMBERS ABSENT: G. Carlson, E. Bush, Ex- Officio. OTHERS PRESENT: Tex Collins, Paul Burns The meeting was brought to order at approximately 6:00 p.m.by Mencazelli. T'here was a motion made by Tillotson, seconded by Balcer to approve September 27, 2000 meeting minutes with conections. Ayes-5 Nays-0 The Commission adjourned into executive session at about m.. 6: 2 0p. The regulaz session was reconvened at about 6: 40 p. m.. Channel update - Not available at this time. 2000-2001 budget - Tillotson reviewed expenditures to date. Mencarelli recommends a modem and soflware package to enhance communications for the operator. This purchase was reaffumed by acclamation. Bylaws and policies - Balcer presented a list of proposed changes to the P. G.E commission bylaws. After some discussion it was decided to table changes further discussion at the next pending meeting. New business - The commission received with regret a letter of resignation from Glen Carlson. Glen's letter states that he is resigning from his seat on the P. G. E Commission and will no longer be able to fulfill his duties at the broadcast site. He offered to remain active at the broadcast site until November 4,2000 to train others in the operations there. Glen will be 1814.29 for his services paid $ from Ju1y 1, 2000 to November 4,2000 There was a motion by Tillotson, seconded by Balcer for Mazk Carlson to be paid to conduct broadcast operations on an interim basis till the next meeting. Ayes-5 Nays-0. Cazlson accepted this responsibility. A job descnption will be developed by a sub- committee for that piupose and a more permanent solution will be worked out next month. Mencarelli requested that the commission begin consideration of fund raising by P.E.G..If the expense of a studio is to be undertaken, P. G. E expenditures will certai.nly exceed current revenues. He also announced that the school and the city are working on a joint resolution of support and development of P. G. E TV. This will be on the agenda next month. Notices and announcements - The two new VCR's aze in and in operation at the broadcast site.
