MANISTEE AREA P. G. E COMMISSION MEETiNG M1N[TTES November 29,2000 A regularly scheduled meeting of the Manistee Area P. G. E Commission was held on November 29, 2000 at 6: m.in the first floor Conference Room at City Hall,70 maple Street, Manistee, Michigan. 00 p. MEMBERS PRESENT: J. Mencarelli, M. Carlson, M. Tillotson, F. Balcer, J. Ball MEMBERS ABSENT• OTHERS PRESENT: Kareen Lewis, Lee Sprague The meeting was brought to order at approximately 6: m.by M.Carlson. There was a motion made 00 p. by Ball,seconded by Tillotson to approve October 26,2000 meeting minutes with corrections. Ayes-5 Nays-0 Channel update - Mark Carlson reported use of the titler is improving with practice. He is now running programs across the entire day, with about 75% program time and about 25% scroll time. Tillotson brought a copy of the log. The current intent is to send the log to the treasurer on a regular basis with billing for operation of the broadcast site. The log will then go to the administrative liaison. He will prepare a report of the hours of progamming and the programs run for distribution. The original will then be returned the broadcast site. A copy of the log will be placed on file. 2000-2001 budget - Tillotson gave a report on the status of the budget and equipment purchases. Bylaws and Policies - Balcer presented a draft of a proposed bylaws and policies document to the commission. Commission members were asked to review this draft for comment at the next meeting. MAPS/City joint resolution - Mencarelli presented a draft resolution which would commit the City Council and the Manistee Area Public Schools to seeking ways to jointly improving the operations of the P.E.G. channel. While there aze no specific actions required by this resolution, it would represent a clear commitment by both parties to working together on future projects. There was a motion by Ball, seconded by Balcer to recommend passage of this resolution to City Council Ayes-5,Nays-0. Other - Scrimger introduced Kareen Lewis and Lee Sprague to the Commission. Both are interested in membership to the Commission. The Commission interviewed Kazeen and Lee and learned that both have extensive backgrounds in broadcasting, public television, and acting. There was a motion by Tillotson, seconded by Carlson, to recommend to City Council that both Kaxeen Lewis and Lee Sprague be accepted for positions on the P. G. E Commission. Ayes-5, Nays-0. The date of the next meeting was set as December 27, 2000, The meeting was adjourned at approximately 7: 30 PM.
