City of Manistee Parks Commission January 2016 Minutes I Meeting called to Order at 6:35 p.m. All members present II Approval of Minutes from November 2015 meeting and December III At the December 2015 Work Session a formal proposal to was adopted by the Parks Commission and presented to Jeff Mikula for his review and his presentation to the city manager and then to city council. Jeff stated he had conversations with representatives from Morton’s and that what they were saying now to him is not quite what they said to our sub-committee members who met with him. Jeff assured us all not to be concerned and that the Morton Park improvement project would move forward. He stated he would get with the city manager and start the process of moving towards the proposed Morton Park improvements. IV Ed brought up the concern of having swim buoys put out at the beaches this year in a timely manner. Jeff stated that would happen and should not be a concern. V Mikula stated $25,000 was budgeted for 5th Ave Picnic area and so far $6,000 has been spent. The Parks Comm will discuss and make a formal recommendation how the remainder should be spent VI The Parks Comm will have involvement in making a recommendation regarding the concessionaire for the 5th Ave Beach house VII Lynn proposed that the Parks Comm acknowledge in writing when a person comes to a meeting with a note of thanks. Motion made and passed unanimously. VIII Lynn volunteered and was unanimously elected to be the Recording Secretary. Meeting Adjourned 7:45 p.m
