City of Manistee Parks Commission Minutes - April 21, 2016 I - Call to order by Chair Ed Tegler at 5:30 pm II - Present - Ed Tegler, Erin Pontiac, Jason Sullivan, Jennifer Teller, Mark Tomaszewski, Lynn Vasquez. Also present Mickey McCain, Roger Zielinski, Jim Smith, Patrica Borucki. III - Motion to approve minutes from Feb. 18, 2016 with the change made to the correct spelling of "Pontiac " made by Erin Pontiac and second by Mark Tomaszewski. All in favor. IV - Heard from Patty Borucki from Great Start Collaborative about no smoking signs in parks. Erin Pontiac made motion that the Parks Commission support the no smoking signage proposed by Great Start Collaborative. Jason Sullivan seconded and all were in favor. V- old business - consession stand sub committee meet with Jeff. A bid was selected and will forward on to council. Jeff and the Spicer group are working up plans for Morton Park. Lighthouse Park with be closed for the rest of summer due to no funding. VI - Discussion - Jen Teller would like money to buy paint for teter totter at old rocket. Pavilion at 1st street beach needs repair. Jen brought up concern for poison ivy dog park at 1st street beach area. Update from Jeff through Mickey, parks bathrooms are up and running, adding diamond dust to baseball feilds. Ice Rink liner worked great. A sugsstion list of items that commission would like for Morton Park with the grant money that Erin had recieved was given to Mickey. March Meeting Cancelled.
