CITY OF MANISTEE PARKS COMMISSION MINUTES Thursday, August 16, 2018 Members Present: Lani Rozga, Stephen Spencer, Erin Pontiac, Tom Swedenborg, Frank Cardella, Mark Tomaszewski, Kipp Pomranky Members Excused: None Also Present: Mickey McCann, Kathie Boyle A regular meeting of the Manistee Parks Commission was held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at City Hall 2nd floor conference room. Meeting was called to order by Vice-Chair Stephen Spencer at 5:30 p.m. Chair Pontiac arrived at 5:35 p.m. Approval of Agenda Motion by Rozga, second by Swedenborg to approve agenda. All in favor. Citizen/Public Comment None Approval of Minutes Motion by Swedenborg, second by Spencer to approve July 19, 2018 minutes. All in favor. Correspondence None Committee Reports None Old Business Outdoor Stage Meeting with Salt City rock & Blues Committee and the City of Manistee will be meeting within the next two weeks. Beach Safety/Accessibility Step missing from a slide at First Street Beach has been repaired. AED’s are not installed – commission inquired if the City could submit an application to the Local Revenue Sharing Board for purchase of AED’s and what department would submit the application. Tennis Court Grant Application City expects should receive notification within the next two weeks is grant was accepted. New Business City Marina The City will be receiving insurance money and matching grant funds for dock repair caused by the Seiche event. Bike Path Cardella inquired about continued bike paths. McCann stated that they are included in the County Wide Recreation Plan and could seek grants. This would include bike/snowmobile paths. Could also reach out to Munson Manistee Hospital for a possible wellness grant. Fifth Avenue Basketball hoop will be temporarily taken down for repair. First Street Pier City has received notification that repairs to First Street pier will begin August 17, 2018. Dredging company doing the repairs.
