CITY OF MANISTEE PARKS COMMISSION MINUTES Thursday, November 21, 2019 Members Present: Kipp Pomranky, Mark Tomaszewski, Lani Rozga, Tim O’Connor, Tom Swedenborg, Thomas Oele Members Excused: None Also Present: Kathie Boyle – City of Manistee A regular meeting of the Manistee Parks Commission was held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at City Hall 2nd floor conference room. Meeting was called to order by Vice-Chair Lani Rozga at 5:30 p.m. Welcome to our new member Thomas Oele Lora Lauran Deputy City Clerk administered oath of office to Rozga and O’Connor Approval of Agenda Motion by Swedenborg, second by O’Connor to approve agenda. All in favor. Citizen Public Comment None Approval of Minutes Motion by Pomranky, second by Tomaszewski to approve July 18th and September 19th, 2019 minutes and place on file. All in favor. Correspondence None Committee Reports None Old Business • First Street Tennis Courts – Bids are due November 25, 2019. • North Riverwalk Upgrade – Working on grant application. New Business • Riverwalk Repairs – Waiting on contractor estimate (insurance claim). • Beach Concession Stands – will advertise this winter for both beaches. North Country Café is only interested in First Street Beach. Members Rozga, O’Connor and Pomranky appointed to assist Mikula in discussion. • County Trail System/Review Map – Requests will be submitted to Rob Carson Manistee County Planning Department tomorrow – November 22, 2019. The County wide trail system will connect municipalities – the Manistee County Planning Department is requesting input on development. Suggestions • Avoidance of Parkdale/Arthur Street • Route Washington/Veterans Oak Grove Drive to follow old railroad grade to casino • Route to include River Street and both beaches • Veterans Oak Grove Drive to Monroe Street • Monroe Street/North Lakeshore Drive to 5th Avenue Beach – back track to Monroe Street north to 5th Avenue • 5th Avenue to Memorial Drive • Memorial Drive to US 31 south • US 31 south to River Street west on River to Water Street • Water Street to First Street – west on First Street to beach loop (1st Street Beach) Items Discussed Election of officers will be held at our January 16, 2020 meeting. Motion by Swedenborg, second by Tomaszewski to adjourn at 6:40 p.m. All in favor. Next meeting date – January 16, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. in the second-floor conference room.
