City of Manistee Parks Commission Minutes Thursday, May 18, 2023 Members Present Kelly Greve, Liz Laskey, Lani Rozga, Karin Maue, Karen Peltola, John Veach Members Absent Tim O’Connor Others Present Ka�e Trivisonno, Mickey McCann A mee�ng of the Manistee Parks Commission was held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 5:30 pm at City Hall, 3rd Floor Council Chambers. The mee�ng was called to order by Chair Liz Laskey. Approval of Agenda Mo�on by Greve, second by Maue to approve agenda. All in favor. Approval of Minutes Mo�on by Rozga, second by Peltola to approve April 20 minutes. All in favor. Commitee Reports Bylaws-Mo�on by Maue, second by Peltola to update revised Parks Bylaws. Stargazing in the Park with Brook Edwards, June 23 at 9pm, 5th Ave Beach. Disc Golf Opening-Scheduled for May 20, 2023, t shirts and discs available. 100 Disc Giveaway! Marina Project-20k goal was met! Indoor furniture and pa�o furniture has been ordered. Greve would like to paint the interior of lower level, add bikes for boaters and a gas grill. Lions Pavilion-Updates include a new display case and flower planters. Minger Grant-Update/paint playground equipment at Morton Park. Basketball hoops/posts are ready to install. 5th Avenue playground equipment needs pain�ng. Old Business Clean Water Recovery Facility Ribbon Cu�ng-Open house was well atended. Teen Center-Laskey is atending mee�ngs. Amphitheater Feasibility Study-Peltola gave an update on RFP applicants, more discussion next week. Tennis Courts at Sands Park-Discussion on removal of the tennis courts. 5th Avenue Playground-Aerial photos, equipment needs pain�ng. New Business Peltola purchased 10 basketballs to be placed at the parks. Residents may use the ball and return to park. McCann gave an update on spring cleanup in the parks. Peltola suggested an open and closing date/�me for each park. Adjourn Mo�on by Peltola, second by Greve to adjourn at 6:35pm.
