Tree Commission Meeting Minutes October 10, 2022 Members Present Dennis Otto, John Helge, Sam Coram, Gerald Haw Members Absent Vidar Lerum Others Present Jeff Mikula, Katie Trivisonno, Jen Teller A meeting of the Manistee Tree Commission was called to order by Chair Helge on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 5:00 in council chambers at City Hall. Call to Order a) Roll Call b) Approval of Agenda- Approved Citizen/Public Comment Jen Teller requested the Tree Commission member form be added/made fillable to City website. She thanked the Commission for their work on View Shed Site Plan, also mentioned the City of Manistee’s Master plan. Approval of Minutes Approval of meeting minutes on September 12, 2022. All in favor. Unfinished Business View Site Management Plan presented by Special Committee member Gerald Haw. Line-item discussion on tree trim removal process. Motion by Gerald Haw, second Sam Coram to remove “Beautification” from View Site Management plan. Motion approved. Site Form presented. Line-item discussion. The Commission would like to schedule a Special Meeting, as needed. John Helge makes a motion to approve View Site plan, all in favor. Tree Inventory Program presented by Sam Coram. A drop-down form used to collect basic information on trees. High School students would assist with data collection, evaluation and entering tree information into GIS mapping system. Jeff Mikula will meet with Spicer Group to add tree identification fields to GIS. Additional user license will need to be purchased. Adjournment Meeting Adjourned at 6:02 pm.
