MAPLE GROVE ARBOR SUBCOMMITTEE SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES INSPECTIONS CONFERENCE ROOM/OFFSITE MEETING August 16th, 2021 - 10:00 AM Call to Order The special meeting of the Arbor Subcommittee was called to order by Member Sarah Piket at 10:00 a.m. Members Present Don Varney, Marilyn Arnlund Members Absent None Also Present None Approval of Agenda and Sarah Piket made a motion to approve the agenda of Minutes the August 16th meeting. The motion was seconded by Don Varney and passed unanimously on a voice vote. Sarah Piket made a motion to approve the minutes of the August 3rd meeting. The motion was seconded by Marilyn Arnlund and passed unanimously on a voice vote. Old Business None New Business Site Visits Subcommittee members continued re-visiting sites they had been to in 2018 and 2019 to see if tree conditions had changed. Additionally, they visited a few new sites that had been developed recently to assess tree health and compare actual landscaping to the plans approved by the Arbor Committee. Revisits: Kiddiegarten - Trees in ok health. Subcommittee will consolidate notes from visit in October meeting AutoZone - Several trees still struggling or dying. Subcommittee will consolidate notes from visit in October meeting BioLife - Group did a very quick drive-thru the parking lot - East side of lot has 2 or 3 trees that are almost dead (previously noted in poor health) - South side strip by Cty Rd 30, no missing trees have been replaced. There are only 9 trees at this time, one of which is just sprouts. Park Nicollet Physicians Neck & Back Center - Most trees were largely the same as the first time we visited a few years ago. Subbcommittee will consolidate notes from visit in October meeting New Sites: Taco Bell (across from hospital) - Plan reviewed by Arbor Committee did not match development so it is hard to assess. Tree placement & quantities are fairly different than the plan. We counted about 21 trees - NE side of development has 2 teeny islands with trees. One tree (Linden) looks ok, the other tree (Maple) has no leader, is stag-heading and has damaged bark - NW corner has a 2 Birch, one is stressed and the other is stagheading badly. - W side of development has 2 Red Oak, one is stressed and the other is dying - S side has a Hackberry that is almost dead and a Kentucky Coffee tree that is stressed Upcoming meetings The following meeting dates/times were identified: - Tuesday, September 7th, 10:00am - 12:00pm - Wednesday, October 13th, 10:00am - 12:00pm Next Meeting Additional site visits (Parnassus, , Shoppes at Arbor Lakes, US Bank) Adjournment Marilyn Arnlund moved to adjourn the meeting.
