MAPLE GROVE ARBOR SUBCOMMITTEE SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES INSPECTIONS CONFERENCE ROOM/OFFSITE MEETING September 7th, 2021 - 10:00 AM Call to Order The special meeting of the Arbor Subcommittee was called to order by Member Sarah Piket at 10:00 a.m. Members Present Don Varney, Marilyn Arnlund Members Absent None Also Present None Approval of Agenda and Sarah Piket noted that the site visits should be under Minutes Old Business and not New Business. Sarah Piket made a motion to approve the amended agenda of the September 7th meeting. The motion was seconded by Don Varney and passed unanimously on a voice vote. Sarah Piket made a motion to approve the minutes of the August 16th meeting. The motion was seconded by Don Varney and passed unanimously on a voice vote. Old Business Site Visits Subcommittee members continued re-visiting sites they had been to in 2018 and 2019 to see if tree conditions had changed. Additionally, they visited a few new sites that had been developed recently to assess tree health and compare actual landscaping to the plans approved by the Arbor Committee. Revisits: US Bank - We looked at the 8 new trees which were planted as part of development. The majority are struggling. - 2 Oak – One has tip die back, the other has severe suckers, dead heading, and tip die back - 2 Linden – Both in very poor health, one of which has many empty branches - 2 Maple – Both in ok shape. One has minor stag heading and the other his minor tip die back - 2 Elm – One is in very poor health with many empty branches, the other is in good shape Parnassus - There are still a large number of trees that are struggling and in poor health - A few have rebounded but not many - It does not appear that any of the original trees have Arbor Subcommittee Meeting Minutes September 7, 2021 Page 2 been replaced. New Sites: Shoppes at Arbor Lake - Only 3 overstory trees were planted as part of the redevelopment. All 3 are Honeylocust. None are thriving. One is in poor health, another has stag heading and the third has some dead heading. New Business None Next Meeting Debrief on results of recent site visits Adjournment Sarah Piket moved to adjourn the meeting.
