Maple Grove City Council special session meeting minutes February 11, 2025 Call to order Pursuant to call and notice thereof, a special session meeting of the Maple Grove City Council was held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the Maple Grove Government Center/Public Safety Facility, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Present were Mayor Mark Steffenson, Councilmembers Kristy Janigo, Rachelle Johnson, Mike Ostaffe, and Jon McCullough. Present also was City Administrator Heidi Nelson and Community and Economic Development Director Joe Hogeboom. Mayor Steffenson called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. Planning The purpose of the special session was to conduct interviews to fill two Commission vacant seats on the Planning Commission. The City Council held interviews interviews with four top candidates for the vacant Planning Commissioner positions. Council consensus was to appoint John Bristol and Allan Pavek to fill the two vacant seats on the Planning Commission. The appointment will be placed on the February 18, 2025 Council agenda for approval. Other items as City Council discussed four work session requests and provided the following deemed direction: necessary Winter Salt Week proclamation: consideration is after the designated dates of Jan 27-31. Requesting Councilmember to consider for next year. Representative Robbins Blue Line funding pause bill HF0014: consensus to not have the city weigh in on this legislation at this time. Sustainability fact sheet update. Staff has updated this fact sheet and will provide to Council in upcoming mail. Youth involvement in city government. Consensus was to have staff reach to to ISD279 staff to explore opportunities for Councilmembers to engage in high school government classes.
