If you choose to attend the meeting in person, you are required to maintain social distancing. All persons entering the building will receive a health screening consisting of a temperature check and COVID-19 related questions. (1) CALL TO ORDER (2) ROLL CALL (3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE (4) APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA (5) APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES ID 20-909 Beautification Advisory Committee Minutes of June 3 2020 (6) STAFF COMMUNICATIONS a. Staff update Tim Pinter let the Committee know that it will need to get new banners because they are currently faded. The committee will handle this. Becky asked Tim if there could be a later time for the sprinklers. b. BAC Budget Request Submittal for FY 2021- Update ID 20-907 BAC BUDGET REQUEST Tim Pinter increased the Committees Operating budget to 11k. c. Replacement Tree Planting- Update The trees have all been replaced it cost around 39K. Trees that were lost in hurricane irma was replaced, however; they weren't the same trees. Some trees were stolen. Steve has a list of all indicates all trees that were replaced. d. Median Landscape Upgrades- Update for this past year, there were 4 medians that were done. 78K for the total work for the medians. There is still ongoing work. This years budget (2021) has about the same amount as 2020 to continue on working more projects. if funds are available they will include barfield. Utility Wrapper - Update ID 20-906 City of Marco Island Cabinet Wraps There will be 11 boxes that need an estimate for Marco island cabinet wraps. They will use speedpro. Motion was made by Connelly seconded by Irwin that is necessary funds are needed to be transferred from operating to cover the utilities cover wrap. UPDATE: 193 pieces, 53 artist, every judge picked 10 pieces. 11 selections with 2 replacements. Still working on awarding the artist at least $1,000. Member wants to send out thank you cards to the judges since it was a lot of work. b. 2020 Marco in Bloom Contest- Evaluations c. Tree Policy BAC Recommendations- Update ID 20-903 City Council Meeting Minutes March 4, 2020 ID 20-904 Tree Policy Recommendations When a tree died, it should be replace within 6 months. ID 20-905 University of Florida Tree Policy Recommendations When a tree died, it should be replace within 6 months. UF TOM BECKER, from UF studies use many different species, use wind resistant trees. Recommend the ones Chair Kirlin recommended and Japanese ferns. read off tree policy recommendations. (10) NEW BUSINESS a. Bio-Swales Plan- Recommendations bio-swale is form of a bio retention (4:07) Tom Becker explains Bio swales and how important they are and how they improve wildlife value, and function to absorb nutrients, plus they are aesthetically pleasing. Main thing is to slow down run off water and retain water to allow a better process. this process will have to go with the aesthetical feeling Marco provide. will revisit this next meeting. (11) COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS size of banners, and info on the vendors. Fertilizer ordinance, Member Connelly reached out to Sam to handout fliers to the Farmers market. Members want to use a vendor that sell banners that the color last. beach banners are bleached. Derma. a.
