(1) CALL TO ORDER
Chair Woodworth called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.
(2) ROLL CALL
Present: 6- Vice-Chair Crain, Member Roth, Member Sokol, Member Thompson, Member
Trotter and Chair Woodworth
(3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Led by Chair Woodworth.
(4) APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA
MOTION by Vice-Chair Crain, seconded by Member Roth, that the Agenda be
Approved. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE:

(5) APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
ID 20-885 Waterways Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes of May 21, 2020
MOTION by Vice-Chair Crain, seconded by Member Thompson, that the Minutes
of May 21, 2020 be Approved. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE:

(6) STAFF COMMUNICATIONS
a. Monthly Water Testing
Storm Water Engineer Jason Tomassetti let the Committee know that the test results from May were
still not available.
b. ERD Update
Mr.Tomassetti also advised the Committee that Dr. Harper of Environmental Research & Design, Inc.
will not have results available to share until October.
c. Wastewater Plant Tour
Per Mr. Tomassetti, Water & Sewer General Manager Jeff Poteet is still intending to host the
Committee on a tour of the water treatment facility at a future date. The Committee reaffirmed its
interest in participating in this opportunity.
d. Waterways Cleanup – Marco Island Realtor’s Association
Mr. Tomassetti confirmed that Ms. Newton and the Marco Island Realtor's Association is still planning
to conduct its cleanup event on July 11th.

Mr. Tomassetti advised the Committee that he would have Dr. Harper's updated information and
schedule on the Waterways Advisory Committee's web page by the end of June.
(7) PUBLIC COMMENT
No citizen comments were brought forward during this portion of the agenda.
(8) PRESENTATIONS
No presentations were brought forward during this portion of the agenda.
(9) OLD BUSINESS
a. Marketing Proposal/Educational Brochure – Member Sokol
Member Sokol created a tri-fold that Vice-Chair Crain reviewed with the Committee. Several changes
were recommended and accepted.
b. Fishkill Cleanup – Chair Woodworth
ID 20-785 City of Sanibel Fish Clean-up
As of the date of the meeting, there was nothing new to report regarding plans to address future fish
kill cleanups. No new allocation of funds were added to the budget. Member Sokol indicated his
intention to look into the matter. Chair Woodworth believes that the City should have a plan and a
process in place in the event that this issue resurfaces.
c. MS4 Ordinance – Chair Woodworth
Mr. Tomassetti advised the Committee that it was his intention to wait for Dr. Harper's report before
proposing modifications to the MS4 Ordinance.
d. Swale Grading – Chair Woodworth
Chair Woodworth asked Jason Tomassetti to provide the Committee with the City's swale grading
specifications. It was observed that those specifications are also available on the City's website.
e. Marine Sanitation & Mooring
ID 20-850 Marine Sanitation and Mooring Issues
The Committee believes that a policy should be in place so that residents know whom to contact
regarding observed or suspected marine sanitation or mooring violations. The Committee also agreed
to request details of the procedure to resolve how these issues are recorded. It was concluded that
any citizen-observed issues should be reported to the Marco Island Police Department.
(10) NEW BUSINESS
Chair Woodworth alerted the Committee and City Staff of three sunken boats currently in the Marco River.
Storm Water EngineerTomassetti indicated that he would investigate and report back on potential
resources that could be contacted to address this hazard.

(11) COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS
No further Committee Communications were offered.
(12) ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:09 a.m.
