(5) STAFF COMMUNICATIONS a. Big Flag Committee - Tim Pinter Mr. Rice, Chair for Big Flag Committee stated there is a concept to add a smaller City of Marco Island Florida Page 1 Parks and Recreation Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final April 19, 2016 Committee American Flag at Jane Hittler Park. He received a commitment of funds from an anonymous donor to cover flag and pole, replacement flags and repairs. Dimensions and location of flag pole to be further discussed by Mr. Pinter. b. Quarterly Reports - Tim Pinter Mr. Pinter reported status of FY16 budget. c. Recreation Programs - Lola Dial Preparing Camp Mackle for summer camp. New spiritually program starting in May. d. Facilities Update - Alex Galiana Updated faciilities maintenance. e. New Mackle Park Community Center Update - Alex Galiana Received bids from last week meeting, awaiting deadline to start processing. (6) COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS (7) OLD BUSINESS a. Veterans' Community Park Discussion - if any, future development Chair Swiacki stated MICA email survey completed with majority of residents requesting green space with some amenities: shade trees, benches and a band shell. Ed Issler requested dog signs stating code at Veterans' Community Park. Mr. Galiana waiting for Collier County ordinance to post signage (to pick up waste and leash dog) within the next 30 days. Fine up to $500.00. Gene Burson requested support from City Council. Chair Swiacki stated PRAC waited for community input, then forward findings to City Council listing priorities for design plan with cost for each amenity for band shell, restrooms, and dressing room. Mr. Levine researched band shell in Cambier Park, Naples with approximately cost of $2.5 million. without restrooms. PRAC wants to move forward with design/cost to City Council. Roger Hernstadt stated bring 3 potential band shell designs with size and construction cost per sq ft to City Council. Start with design fees (from architect) to get started on the project. PRAC in agreement to bring 3 recommendations to next meeting. 1. Focus on band shell 2. Diagonal parking 3. Partner with City for pergola for shade, green space 4. Trees, shrubs, walkway will follow Meeting today at Mackle Park for further input at 5:30 p.m. sponsored by PRAC and Coastal Breeze. b. Concert in Veterans Community Park Discussion City of Marco Island Florida Page 2 Parks and Recreation Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final April 19, 2016 Committee Cost in November $5,000, in January 10,000. Get sponsors to pay for second concert. c. Mackle Park Discipline Policy Discussion - Alex Galiana Mr. Galiana will stay within present discipline policy guidelines. (8) NEW BUSINESS (9) PUBLIC COMMENT Mr. Rice stated it would better to have funds up front for amenities at Veterans' Community Park.
