Recreation Programs - Lola Dial Winter Concert Series every Sunday until April 9th at Mackle Park at 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. Movies in the Park - Friday January 27th - Big Miracle Florida Extension Services , Florida Gulf University, Landscaping for Small Spaces class on January 27th -1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. The Family Church: New Program - Jukebox by Joanie - low impact dancing started January 12th - 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Line Dancing - Tuesdays at 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Mackle Park: Valentine's Day Picnic - Feb. 14th at 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Serving food and drinks. Free Event Souper Bowl - Saturday , Feb 4th - 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Purchase bowls ($15-$20) on Feb. 1st. Funds go to scholar ships for students. Facilities - Alex Galiana City of Marco Island Florida Page 1 Parks and Recreation Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final January 17, 2017 Committee Mackle Park: New carpet on Bocce courts completed in past 2 weeks. Racquet Center: Reconditioned 2 courts #5 & #6. Painted restrooms, replaced carpet and light fixtures in Pro Shop. Wayne Clark, tennis/pickleball instructor stated he received positive feedback on Pro Shop and restroom painting. Veterans' Community Park: Adding drainage rock along seawall. Winterberry Park: Sr. softball started for Men's softball league on Mon - Fri. at 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. c. New Mackle Park Community Center Update - Alex Galiana Mr. Galiana presented latest photo view of concrete walls installed in 2 wings. Once walls are completed in 1 - 10 days, roof trusses will begin. Completion date for building is late August 2017. d. Island Rocks Concert in the Park - Follow up - Samantha Malloy Mr. Galiana stated the concert had great turn out (about 1,000) with no problems or issues. Chair Swiacki stated concert had better vendors this year. Attendance was excellent with community participation. Police & Fire Dept. helped make it safe. Chair Swiacki thanked Judy and Larry Sacher for the idea of "Concert In The Park". He also congratulated Ms. Malloy. Next concert is scheduled for May 2017. (5) COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS None. (6) OLD BUSINESS a. Veterans' Community Park 2009 Master Plan Update Mr. Galiana presented three (3) scopes of services to City Manager. The City Manager will review and present to City Council at a future meeting. Add to next month PRAC agenda. b. Calusa Park - Winterberry Drive - Shared Use Path Each member received a copy of plans for the Shared Use Path: Member Portu Feedback: 1. Need lighting plan (along course) in future budget. 2. Landscaping layout for low lying shrubs plants or alternative material. Too much mulch. (starts on Page 29) 3. Lots past Sand Hill scaled down walkway from 8' to 12' pathway. (Page 38, 39) Make an extension of pathway into Calusa Park. 4. Tract 2 - take walkway into parcel while adding landscape and trees to expand Calusa Park. City of Marco Island Florida Page 2 Parks and Recreation Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final January 17, 2017 Committee Mr. Galiana stated his understanding was the plans for Calusa pathway were 90% completed and not many, if any changes, would be possible. He recommended sending PRAC ideas to City Council to make them aware of these changes. He stated the bollard lamps currently being used at Mackle Park were about $900.00 each. He was not certain if they could be included in the grant monies that have been awarded for the pathway. Member Portu will draft letter of recommendations (for PRAC to review), then final letter, will be sent to City Council and City Manager. (7) NEW BUSINESS None.
