Program/Facilities - Samantha Malloy Ms. Malloy reported: Veterans' Community Park: Movie in Park Friday had 40 people attendance Island Rock Concert is January 12, 2019 - Billy Joel cover band, and Hot Damn performing Farmers Market - vendor spots are full, good feedback, requested vendors abide by no plastic bag policy. Fountain structure repaired, thanks to Lee Rubenstein scheduling repair. Meg Bonos arrived at 3:04 p.m. Racquet Center: Pickle ball courts completed - look great Concerns with hard courts, opposed to clay courts, some parking issue, compliments from residents on improvements City of Marco Island Florida Page 1 Parks and Recreation Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final December 18, 2018 Committee Chair Portu suggested tracking attendees who help improve volume of membership (due to renovations). Good public relations for PRAC to participate at Farmers Market. Can also promote Kimley-Horns presentation for City Council on February 4, 2019. b. December 2018 City Council Report - Samantha Malloy ID 18-710 December 2018 City Council Report Attachments: December 2018 CC Report.docx No comments. (7) PUBLIC COMMENT (TIME CERTAIN 3:30 P.M.) Modify agenda to move Public Comment to 3:26 p.m. MOTION by Vice-Chair Levine, seconded by Member Rutledge, that this Public Comment Time Certain be changed to 3:26 p.m. be approved. (9) OLD BUSINESS a. Veterans' Community Park Update Chair Portu stated Kimley-Horn presenting 3D plan on February 4, 2019 at City Council meeting, PRAC members needs to attend. Ms. Malloy will inquire with James P. (Kimley Horn) for PRAC to preview presentation prior to February 4, 2019, and post on City website for more exposure. Chair Portu stated changes in committee members leaving after 2/1/19. City Council needs to approve Master Plan and use Capital Funds for initial phase. Some capital funds left to use, have $150,000. to approve Master Plan, RFQ up to $150,000. Items will be on City Council agenda twice. In May, initial budget presentation starts for FY20 budget. Final plan needs to go to City Council, and approval for usage of capital funds. Don't get behind on spending funds (Jane Hittler Park), get recommendations from staff on improvements for park which has already been allocated. Add to next month PRAC agenda, January 15, 2019. Give new committee members updates on plans, capital improvements, budgetary requests, etc. due to extensive time spent on special projects this past year. b. Food/Spice Garden - Member Richards City of Marco Island Florida Page 2 Parks and Recreation Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final December 18, 2018 Committee Member Richards made headway, 1-3 gallon plants will grow to proper size. Using some plants: Papaya, Star Fruit, Lime, Mango to begin project. Create (if water sprinklers in area), possibly plots for citizens to rent and plant. If approval from City Council, go forward with funds. Message from Calusa Garden Club: new plants in their garden were stolen. (10) NEW BUSINESS None. (11) COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS None.
