(2) ROLL CALL Present: 7- Member Sokol, Member Thompson, Vice-Chair Trotter, Member Welty, Member Winter, Member Wordehof and Chair Crain Also Present Bob Roth, Clean Marco Waters LLC David Rasmussen, Clean Marco Waters LLC City Staff: Jeff Poteet, Water/Sewer Department General Manager Justin Martin, Manager of Engineering, Technology & Operations for the Water/ Sewer Dept. (Via Phone) Jason Tomassetti, Storm Water Engineer Martin Luna, Video/ Broadcast Specialist Tracey Barnett, Administrative Assistant for Public Works (3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Chair Crain. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOICE VOTE: Yes: 7- Member Sokol, Member Thompson, Vice-Chair Trotter, Member Welty, Member Winter, Member Wordehof and Chair Crain (6) STAFF COMMUNICATIONS Mr. Jason Tomassetti reminded the Committee that at the next meeting it need's to vote on a new Chair and Vice-Chair. He also mentioned that the monthly water quality testing report was posted to the City's website. (7) PUBLIC COMMENT None. (8) PRESENTATIONS City of Marco Island Florida Page 1 Waterways Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - Final January 20, 2022 a. Alternative Wastewater Treatment Methods (Jeff Poteet) Mr. Jeff Poteet presented how wastewater goes through the process to becoming reuse water (reclaimed water), and the methods for it's disposal. Alternative methods for reclaimed water disposal were also discussed, as were the costs associated with these options. (9) OLD BUSINESS a. Recommendations to City Council (All Members) ID 22-2055 Recommendations to City Council Chair Crain reminded the Committee of it's need to finalize it's recommendations to City Council. He recommended listening to Mr. Poteet's presentation and considering the presentation and recommendation from Clean Marco Water LLC. Mr. Bob Roth of Clean Marco Water LLC recapped his recommendations from the December meeting: 1) a new department within the City to address water quality and the hiring of a consulting engineering firm to help organize it; 2) look at reuse water; 3) re-evaluate the fertilizer ordinance; 4) public education, and; 5) continue to monitor the results. All actions proposed were taken from the "Harper Report". Mr. Dave Rasmussen of Clean Marco Water LLC expressed his belief that Marco will never get off impairment unless something is done about significantly reducing fertilizer on the Island. Then showing the state now many pounds of Nitrogen and Phosphorus are being reduced versus what was polluted prior years thus showing how the City is addressing the situation. The recommendations to the City Council will be discussed further at the next meeting. All Committee members were in agreement on the five recommendations discussed at this meeting, but they would like to further refine each before presenting them to the City Council. (10) NEW BUSINESS a. WWTP Upgrades (Member Wordehoff) ID 22-2056 WWTP Upgrades This topic was not discussed due to the lack of time. It will be on the Agenda for the next meeting. (11) COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS a. Member Availability for Next Meeting February 17, 2022 @ 9:00 A.M. This was not discussed. b. Sharing of Thoughts on Topics of Committee Interest (All) This was not discussed.
