. City of Margaret June 16, 2020 6:00 P.M. In attendance: Councilman Chapman, Councilman Perry, Councilman Carter, Councilman Ray, Mayor Pro-Tem McIntyre Absent: Mayor Howard, Prayer: Councilman Perry Mayor Pro-Tem McIntyre called Meeting to order Discussion Mayor Pro-Tem McIntyre asked for approval of minutes for June 2, 2020 meeting. Councilman Carter made the Motion to approve minutes for June 2, 2020. Councilman Perry seconded the Motion. Motion passed unanimously. Carissa Morris a resident of Margaret would like for the City to adopt a policy, that would make the City more conscientious with policies of force applied by the City Police Department. Ms. Morris would like for the City of Margaret to be an example to neighboring cities. Councilman Perry informed Ms. Morris that he was aware of the policy and everything had been forwarded to Mayor Howard and Chief Smith. Councilman Perry also suggested that Ms. Morris reach out to Argo over concerns with their Police Department. Councilman Carter asked Officer Bishop would speeding be a probable cause to search a vehicle? Officer Bishop informed Councilman Carter that it usually based upon an Officer intuition. Virginia a resident of the City of Margaret expressed her concern over an incident with a Margaret Police Officer. Councilman Chapman inquired about the developers in Sunrise. It was also noted that the roads in Sunrise where Wallace and Sunrise intercept that was just paved is coming apart. Councilman Ray feels that we need to hold the people doing the paving accountable for their work.  Councilman Perry made the Motion to table discussion about the Water Regulations until Mayor Howard can be present. The Motion was seconded by Councilman Chapman. Motion passed unanimously. Mayor Pro-Tem McIntyre asked for anymore comments: Ms. Morris inquired about the new construction located near her residence Councilman Perry informed her that the construction is a part of Brookhaven Subdivision. Councilman Ray stated that 250 more homes are projected to be built. Councilman Chapman – nothing Councilman Perry – nothing Councilman Ray – nothing Councilman Carter – has complaints about the Police Department pulling over people and searching their cars Councilman Ray – has similar complaints Mayor Pro-Tem McIntyre – has similar complaints Councilman Chapman made the Motion to adjourn. Motion was seconded by Councilman Ray. Motion passed unanimously.
