Regular Meeting Minutes, September 9, 2024
Call to Order
The regular meeting of the Village Board, for the Village of Marquette, was called
to order by Art Cybul at 7:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

There were 10 citizens in attendance.
Certification of Compliance with the Open Meetings Law
Certification of Compliance with the Open Meetings law: Agenda notice was
posted in three public places-Village Hall, kiosks at the Post Office and Truck
Garage, also posted on the Village Website.
Approve Agenda
A motion to approve the amended agenda was made. Deiss/Michalos, Motion
passed. (unanimous)
Approval of August Minutes
A motion to approve the minutes was made. Deiss/Michalos, Motion passed.
(unanimous)
Approval of Special Meeting Minutes
A motion to approve the minutes was made. Michalos/Deiss, Motion passed.

Reading and Approval of Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer’s report was read. Motion to approve the Treasurer’s report was
made. Michalos/Deiss, Motion passed. (unanimous)
Approve Payment of Bills
Approve payment of Bills: Presented for payment were vouchers 9921-9947 in the
amount of $28,640.14 plus the $4,500.00 for the maintained balance and utilities
for the Grand total of $33,140.14. The Motion to pay the bills as presented and
transfer from the appropriate accounts the amount of $32000.00 to the General
Fund.
The motion to approve the bills, Michalos/Deiss, Motion passed. (unanimous)
Citizen Comments - Time Limits
Citizen expressed frustration with a wire from Spectrum hanging down from a
neighbor’s pole and not being fixed. President Cybul advised resident to send him
an email with address and he will reach out to out county representative to get it
repaired.
Brian Frank our Village Assessor advised that he will be knocking on resident’s
doors beginning of October to begin the assessing values for the 2025 assessment
year. He also will be leaving green cards in the door if residents are not home. It is
imperative that he assesses property values correctly so that the Village, Schools,
and Fire Departments do not lose out on money from the State.
Discuss/Approve
Oberreich foundation funds to spend
It was determined that a way to honor each branch of our Military Services was to
purchase Memorial Bricks for the Marquette Memorial Meadow Park and one
brick Thanking the Oberreich family for the donation. The motion was made to
purchase the bricks for $500. Michalos/Deiss, Motion passed. (unanimous)
Vote on exemption of sex offender
The motion was made to DENY the exemption of the sex offender because it is in
direct violation of Village Ordinance 62 . Deiss/Michalos, Motion passed.
(unanimous)
Review of projects for next year’s budget
Identified projects were, Chip Seal Village and Fire Department parking lot,
culvert replacement, road maintenance, refinish pier, additional gravel for Village
Hall driveway, new trees around fire department and park. Estimates will be
obtained and used for 2025 Budgeting.
Board Reminders/Updates
Janet Burdick has resigned from placing flags and maintaining Veterans Graves in
our Cemetery after 20 years and President Cybul Thanked her for her dedication
and service to our Veterans. Village volunteers are needed to keep up this tradition.
Village Clerk will contact Wolf Underground to be put on work list to have the
septic pipe repaired before it fails.
Residents are encouraged to contact the Red Cross Website and request a free
smoke detector. https://www.redcross.org
