POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION MINUTES
February 13, 2025 at 5:30 PM
303 Mansion Street Mauston, WI
1. Call to Order/Roll Call: The Police and Fire Commission meet on February 13, 2025, in the
Council Chambers of Mauston City Hall. Chair Brian McGuire called the meeting to order at 5:35
p.m. The members present were Jack Hammer, Brian McGuire, Deborah Shuman, and Gary
Purvis. Absent was Katie Gruman. Police Chief Mike Zilisch, Police Sergeants Sanner and Arenz,
and City Administrator Daron Haugh were also present.
2. Closed Session: Motion by Hammer, seconded by Purvis to go into closed session pursuant to
Wisconsin State Statute 19.85(1)(c) for Patrol officer interviews. Motion carried by unanimous roll
call vote at 5:36 pm.
3. Reconvene in Open Session: Motion made by Hammer, seconded by McGuire to go into open
session. Motion carried at 7:48 pm.
4. Result of Closed Session Matters: Motion made Hammer, seconded by Shuman to recommend
to Chief Zilisch that he continue with the hiring process with two (2) of the candidates. Motion
carried.
5. Adjourn: Motion made by McGuire, seconded by Shuman to adjourn. Motion carried at 7:50 pm.

governmental body at the above-stated meeting other than the governmental body specifically referred
to above in this notice.
