POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES August 28, 2025 at 5:30 PM 303 Mansion Street Mauston, WI 1. Call to Order/Roll Call: The Police and Fire Commission met on August 28, 2025, in the Council Chambers of Mauston City Hall. Chair Brian McGuire called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m. Members present were Jack Hammer, Gary Purvis, Deborah Shuman, and Brian McGuire. Katie Gruman was absent. Also present were Police Chief Mike Zilisch, Assistant Fire Chief Nelson. 2. Minutes: Motion by Hammer, seconded by Purvis, to approve the minutes from July 24, 2025. Motion carried by voice vote. 3. Financial Report: Motion by Purvis, seconded by Hammer, to approve the financial report as presented. Motion carried by voice vote. 4. Fire Chief's Report: The calls for service in July 2025 were reviewed and explained. Asst. Chief Nelson updated the PFC on the participation and attendance of two firefighters. Motion by McGuire, seconded by Shuman to approve the Fire Chief’s report. Motion carried by voice vote. 5. Police Chief's Report: The July 2025 statistical reports were reviewed and explained. The total calls for service in July 2025 was 2,120, while in July 2024, there were 1,454 calls. Last month, there were 1,946 calls. Chief Zilisch broke down the types and nature of calls that go into those totals. He also informed the PFC of recent trainings that have been completed. Motion by McGuire, seconded by Hammer, to approve the Police Chief’s report. Motion carried by voice vote. 6. Adjourn: Motion by Shuman, seconded by Purvis to adjourn. Motion carried by voice vote.
