POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES September 25, 2025 at 5:30 PM 303 Mansion Street Mauston, WI 1. Call to Order/Roll Call: The Police and Fire Commission met on September 25, 2025, in the Council Chambers of Mauston City Hall. Chair Brian McGuire called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. Members present were Jack Hammer, Gary Purvis, and Brian McGuire. Katie Gruman and Deborah Shuman were absent. Also present were Police Chief Mike Zilisch, and Fire Captain Jim Allaby. 2. Minutes: Motion by Purvis, seconded by McGuire, to approve the minutes of August 28, 2025. Motion carried by voice vote. 3. Financial Report: Motion by McGuire, seconded by Purvis to approve the financial report as presented. Motion carried by voice vote. 4. Fire Chief's Report: The calls for service in August 2025 were reviewed and explained by Captain Allaby. Motion by Purvis, seconded by Hammer, to approve the Fire Chief’s Report. Motion carried by voice vote. Captain Allaby left the meeting at 5:41 p.m. 5. Police Chief's Report: The August 2025 statistical reports were reviewed. Total calls for service were 1,706, compared to 1,587 in August 2024 and 2,120 calls in July 2025. Chief Zilisch reported that firearms training was recently completed and that he and the two sergeants attended the Chiefs of Police Conference. Motion by Hammer, seconded by Purvis, to approve the Police Chief’s report. Motion carried by voice vote. 6. Staff Report a. Annual Evaluations for the Police and Fire Chiefs and Officer/Command Staff: Forms for the Police Chief and Fire Chief will be distributed to PFC members by City Administrator Haugh. Completed forms should be returned to PFC Chair Brian McGuire by October 5, 2025. Chair McGuire will compile the responses and submit them to Administrator Haugh by October 8, 2025. 7.
