POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES February 26, 2026 at 5:30 PM 303 Mansion Street Mauston, WI 1. Call to Order/Roll Call: The Police and Fire Commission met on February 26, 2026, in the Council Chambers at Mauston City Hall. Chair Brian McGuire called the meeting to order at 5:37 p.m. Members present were Jack Hammer, Brian McGuire, and Deborah Shuman. Also present was Fire Chief Lenorud. Absent were Gary Purvis and Katie Gruman. 2. Discussion and Action Regarding Minutes: Motion by McGuire, seconded by Shuman, to approve the minutes of January 22, 2026. Motion carried by voice vote. 3. Financial Report: Motion by Hammer, seconded by Shuman, to approve the January 2026 financial report as presented. Motion carried by voice vote. 4. Fire Chief's Report: The calls for service in January 2026 were reviewed. There were eight (8) calls in the City, four (4) calls in the rural area, two (2) mutual aid calls, and one (1) MABAS call, totaling fifteen (15) calls for January 2026. In 2025, there were 143 total calls, with 149 total calls in 2024 and 156 calls in 2023. Regarding Personnel, Chief Lenorud reported that the new brush truck is in service, and the new command truck is just about ready for service. Motion by McGuire, seconded by Hammer, to approve the Fire Chief’s report. Motion carried by voice vote. 5. Police Chief's Report: The January 2026 statistical report was reviewed. 6. Municipal EMS Service Analysis - Phase 1: The PFC reviewed the memo provided by City Administrator Daron Haugh, regarding beginning the initial research into alternative EMS options for the City of Mauston. 7.
