SPECIAL POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION
MINUTES
September 11, 2024 at 5:30 PM
303 Mansion Street Mauston, WI- 4th floor Officers Room
1. Call to Order/Roll Call - The Police and Fire Commission held a special meeting on September
11, 2024, in the Council Chambers of Mauston City Hall. Chair McGuire called the meeting to order
at 5:36 p.m. The members present were Jack Hammer, Katie Gruman, Deborah Shuman, Brian
McGuire, and Gary Purvis. Police Chief Mike Zilisch, Police Sergeants Eric Sanner and Brandon
Arenz, and City Administrator Daron Haugh were also present.
2. Closed Session -Purvis/Gruman motion to move into Closed session pursuant to Wisconsin State
Statute 19.85(1)(c) for patrol officer interview. Motion carried on 5-0 roll call vote. Went into closed
Session at 5:37 pm.
3. Reconvene in Open Session - Gruman/Shuman to move into Open Session at 6:10 p.m. Motion
carried on voice vote
4. Discussion and Action as a Result of Closed Session Matters - Hammer/McGuire motioned to
recommend to Chief Zilisch that he continue with the hiring process with the candidate. Motion
carried on 5-0 roll call vote.
5. Adjourn - McGuire/Gruman to adjourn – motion carried by voice vote – meeting adjourned at 6:13
p.m.
