OFFICIAL COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Menomonie, Dunn County, Wisconsin, was held in open
session on September 19, 2022, and called to order by Mayor Knaack at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council
Chambers. The following members were present: Sutherland, Solberg, Chase, Schwebs, Yonko,
Sommerfeld, Schlough, Burstad, and Erdman. McCullough was absent.
PUBLIC HEARING – None
PUBLIC COMMENTS – None
MOTION made by Erdman, seconded by Schwebs, and carried unanimously on roll call vote to approve $3,000 in
funding from the contingency fund for the Chippewa-St. Croix Rail Commission to hire an outside
consultant to do a Market Sounding event.
RESOLUTION - MOTION made by Yonko, seconded by Sutherland, and carried unanimously to authorize the
submittal of the 2022 Urban Forestry DNR Grant application as presented.
MOTION made by Schwebs, seconded by Burstad, and carried unanimously on roll call vote to approve the
contract agreement with Cedar Corporation to complete the TMDL MS4 Stormwater Plan with the DNR
prior to the end of 2023.
MOTION made by Schwebs, seconded by Solberg, and carried unanimously to disallow the claim for vehicle
damage submitted by Julie & Brad Aasen.
RESOLUTION - MOTION made by Burstad, seconded by Yonko, and carried unanimously to adopt a resolution
recognizing retiring League of Wisconsin Municipality employees Curt Witynski & Gail Sumi.
MOTION made by Erdman, seconded by Chase, and carried unanimously to approve the special events requests
submitted by Downtown Menomonie, Inc. for Trick or Treating on October 28th, 2022 and, Mind Over Matter
for the Get it Dunn Run on June 10, 2023.
MOTION made by Solberg, seconded by Yonko, and carried unanimously to approve the mayoral appointment of
Larry Feiler to the Board of Zoning Appeals (term expiring April 2025) and Cassandra Weber (term expiring
October 2028) to the Housing Authority Board.
MAYOR’S REPORT – Mayor Knaack gave his report on community events including The Great Community
Cookout was a successful event. The Lakeview neighbors sent a thank you to the City for building a
handicap ramp and providing picnic tables for a neighborhood event. The City’s Clean Sweep is scheduled
for September 29th from 3pm-7pm.
COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS – Thank you to the Rotary Club for their assembly of the
picnic tables in Wilson Park. Stout Road will be opened up later this week. Chase addressed the Council
and apologized for his conduct during a traffic stop in August.
