OFFICIAL COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Menomonie, Dunn County, Wisconsin, was held in open
session on January 3, 2023, and called to order by Mayor Knaack at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council
Chambers. The following members were present: Chase, Burstad, Yonko, Sutherland, McCullough,
Schwebs, Solberg, Erdman and Sommerfeld. Schlough was absent.
PUBLIC HEARING – None
PUBLIC COMMENTS – None
MOTION made by Yonko, seconded by Chase, and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of the December
19th, 2022 council meeting.
MOTION to waive the rules made by Erdman, seconded by Solberg, and carried unanimously to allow David
Schofield to introduce himself to council, as the recommended appointment as the Director of Public Works
for the City of Menomonie. MOTION made by Solberg, seconded by Sommerfeld, and carried unanimously
to approve the appointment of David Schofield as the Director of Public Works effective January 30, 2023.
ORDINANACE to adopt the Title 1, Chapter 5 Charter ordinance amendment relating to ward boundaries and
elections was INTRODUCED by McCullough. MOTION to waive the first reading was made by Solberg,
seconded by Erdman. MOTION to waive the second reading was made by Chase, seconded by Burstad.
MOTION to adopt the ordinance amendment was made by McCullough, seconded by Schwebs, and
carried unanimously.
MOTION made by Schwebs, seconded by Yonko, and carried to approve the Level B Hazardous Materials
Response Agreement between Dunn County and the City of Menomonie through December 31, 2027, as
presented. McCullough abstained.
MOTION made by Erdman, seconded by Sommerfeld, and carried unanimously to approve the re-appointments of
Dennis Kropp, Cynthia Gilberts, Bob Giede and Monika Hermann to the Urban Forestry Board, with terms
expiring December 2025.
MAYOR’S REPORT – Mayor Knaack gave his report on the hugely successful ribbon cutting and holiday light party
at Wolske Bay on December 29th. The Mayor reminded council that there will be a retirement party for
Randy Eide at 10am on January 11th, in City Hall and welcomed everyone to attend. Mayor Knaack also
encouraged council to come forward with any future goals for the city.
COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS – Randy Eide shared that Menomonie will have a
holiday tree pick up on January 9th, with Wakanda Park also being a drop off site for residents wanting to
discard of their holiday trees. Lowell Prange noted that the next council meeting will be held on January
16th, 2023, as a public hearing was previously scheduled for that date.
CLAIMS - MOTION was made by Erdman, seconded by Solberg, and carried unanimously on roll call vote to
approve payment of the following claims:
