Flanigan presented a concept plans. DISCUSSION ON FIRE STATION FINANCING. Mayor Clark stated that it all looks great, but is beyond the means of the City at this time. Clark doesn’t question the project; he questions how the City will fund the project. Schaaf stated that something needs to be done. The building will eventually start falling in on itself structure wise. Alan Schrank stated this discussion was started back in 2014. Costs have increased substantially. The City has $8.5M of debt capacity after this year’s borrowing, which is near the estimated cost of the project. That capacity may increase with a growing tax base. The group discussed the pros and cons of becoming a district, and the impacts it could have on this project, grants, and fundraising. Administrator Honer will reach out to Keller to request them to look at expansion to the west instead of the east. Honer will also ask what a change in building materials will do to the price. Honer will also reach out to state representatives regarding the project and any potential funding sources. ADJOURN Motion (Marr/Walrack) to adjourn at 6:45pm. Motion carried, all voting aye (5-0).
