CITY OF MINERAL POINT 137 HIGH STREET, SUITE 1 MINERAL POINT, WI 53565 608-987-2361 MINUTES CITY OF MINERAL POINT PERSONNEL COMMITTEE MEETING Monday, December 16, 2024, 2:30 PM City Hall Community Room CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order by Chair Burrows at 2:30pm. Keith Burrows, Chair Present Chuck Allendorf Present Mike Christensen Present Others Present: Police Chief Bob Weier, Attorney Eric Hagen, City Administrator Matthew Honer. APPROVAL OF DECEMBER 9, 2024 MINUTES Motion (Christensen/Allendorf) to approve minutes from the December 9, 2024 Personnel Committee meeting. Motion carried, all voting aye (3-0). DISCUSSION AND ACTION ON PART-TIME POLICE OFFICER WAGES Police Chief Weier provided a background on the department hiring new part-time officers. He explained that officers generally require time to train into the department’s policies and procedures and recommended the City establish a training wage for part-time and officers in training. Once officers are determined to be capable of patrolling independently, as determined by the Chief, their wage would be increased to the current budgeted part-time wage of $25.00/hr. Motion (Burrows/Christensen) to recommend Council approval of updating the part-time wage for current and future part-time officers to $25.00/hr and establishing a training wage of $22.00/hr. Motion carried, all voting aye (3-0). MOTION TO CONVENE IN CLOSED SESSION VIA ROLL CALL VOTE PURSUANT TO WIS. STATS. §19.85(1)(e) TO DISCUSS NEGOTIATIONS AND CONTRACT WITH WPPA/MPPA. Motion (Burrows/Christensen) to convene in closed session at 2:36 p.m. Motion carried by roll call, all voting aye (3-0). ADJOURN. Motion (Christiansen/Allendorf) to adjourn at 3:03 PM. Motion carried, all voting aye (3-0).
