AIRPORT COMMITTEE February 27, 2012 Page 1 Members Present: Frey, Hatlelid, Knudsvig, Larson, Lehner, Rued, Seymour. Members Absent: None. Others Present: City Manager, City Clerk, City Attorney, Assistant City Attorney, Finance Director, Airport Director, Airport Operations Supervisor. To the Honorable Mayor and All Aldermen: Following are the recommendations from the Airport Committee meeting called to order at 4:15 p.m., February 27, 2012: 1. That the City Council declare the proposal by Environmental Specialists, Inc. for custodial services for the Minot International Airport, from April 1, 2012 through December 31, 2014, in the total amount of $265,398; and further, authorize the Mayor to sign the contract on the City’s behalf. ********** The above motion by Alderman Frey and seconded by Alderman Lehner and carried unanimously. 2. That the City Council authorize the Airport Director to submit an application to the North Dakota Department of Transportation for grant funds through the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) program; further, authorize the acceptance of any funds awarded; and further, authorize the Mayor to sign any grant documents on the City’s behalf. ********** The above motion by Alderman Knudsvig and seconded by Alderman Lehner. The Airport Director indicated the grant could be used to widen Airport Road from Broadway to where the entrance of a new terminal would be located. He stated the road expansion would include sidewalks, walkways, transit entrances and possibly parking. AIRPORT COMMITTEE February 27, 2012 Page 2 Whereupon, a vote was taken on the above motion by Alderman Knudsvig, seconded by Alderman Lehner, and carried unanimously. 3. That the City Council authorize the Airport Director to call for bids for ground preparations to allow Pietsch Aircraft Restoration and Repair and Minot Aero Center to construct a hangar facility at the site; contingent upon receipt of MAGIC Fund monies. ********** The above motion by Member Larson and seconded by Member Rued. Warren Pietsch, representing Pietsch Aircraft Restoration and Repair and Minot Aero Center, appeared before the Committee and provided information on the details of the hangar space. Following discussion, a vote was taken on the above motion by Member Larson, seconded by Member Rued and carried unanimously. General Information The Airport Director commented on potential solutions to the issue of parking at the airport. He stated he had met with ARM Parking to increase the number of available spaces and was also exploring the option of shuttling passengers from off-site parking.
