AIRPORT COMMITTEE January 8, 2013 Page 1 Members Present: Frey, Hatlelid, Larson, Lehner, Rued, Seymour. Members Absent: Knudsvig. Others Present: City Manager, City Clerk, City Attorney, Finance Director, Public Works Director, City Engineer, Police Chief, Fire Chief, Treasurer, Airport Director, Aldermen Connole, Krabseth, and B. Miller. To the Honorable Mayor and All Aldermen: Following are the recommendations from the Airport Committee meeting called to order at 5:15 p.m., January 8, 2013: 1. That the City Council adopt a resolution setting Minot International Airport rates, fees, and charges regarding parking, effective February 1, 2013. ********** Alderman Lehner moved that the City Council adopt a resolution setting Minot International Airport rates, fees, and charges regarding parking, effective February 1, 2013. Motion seconded by Alderman Frey. Upon questioning, the Airport Director reported Minot does not have a long term parking rate structure and the resolution would remove the monthly parking fee. Alderman Lehner suggested the weekly parking fee remain at $40.00 per week. Member Larson voiced his support for the change. Member Rued moved to amend the motion to remove the monthly parking fee and keep the weekly parking rate at $40.00 per week. Motion seconded by Alderman Lehner and carried unanimously. Whereupon, a vote was taken on the original motion, as amended, and carried unanimously. 2. That the City Council place and pass an ordinance on first reading amending the 2012 Airport budget in the amount of $305,000 for the Airport parking and equipment, on first reading. ********** The above motion by Member Larson and seconded by Alderman Lehner and carried unanimously. AIRPORT COMMITTEE January 8, 2013 Page 2 General Information The Airport Director provided an update on the new terminal project. He commented a 95% completion review would be presented in March 2013. He commented that should all funds become available, a May 2013 bid opening could be possible for the construction of the terminal. If funds were not available, the bid opening date would be around October 2013. The Airport Director reported the parking management and car rental transitions had gone smoothly. He also reported the December enplanements exceeded 19,500 which put the enplanements for 2012 at 224,421 and has exceeded the prior year by 60% for the second straight year.
