May 3, 2018- HWC Meeting Minutes Commission members: Colleen, Ryan, Christine, Meghan, Dan, David New commission members: Abigail (MHS) and Patrick (BoParc) Guest: Emily Sarkees WVU School of Public Health  Meeting called to order at 7:10  Introductions of new committee members and guest  Emily explains how the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) is conducted in our community. o Provided copy of Community Health Perception Survey o Emily’s contact: edillama@hsc.wvu.edu o Three “asks” from Emily  Look/provide input to survey, by May 18th, 2018  Send to Meghan at klinem@wvumedicine.org  Help with broad data collection of surveys  Spread the word about the Community Meeting (anticipated for Fall), where findings will be provided o Data from 2016 CHNA separated Child and Adult SA o New preliminary findings from Camden Clark and Potomac Valley reveal top three areas of need as: SA, Obesity, and Cancer  Discussion of changing verbiage of mission statement o Will draft new potential mission statements  Discussed Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant o Framework was presented and discussed o Decided it is better suited after a framework is built  Handout of ChangeLab Solutions distributed  Discussion of Facilitator to assist in developing framework o General funding available through City Council o Mayor suggests to explore grants o City has a grant writer that may be able to assist  Planning day o Will use Doodle poll to select a date that works best  Patrick expresses that a Board member from BoParc may not be the best position to sit on HWC o Instead he suggests using a community member that is on the BoParc Committee  YMCA o Preliminary stages, but moving forward o Marilla Park is the suggested location, ideally making the area the central park of Morgantown
