ATTENDEES: Alexandria Slovos, Sabina Nduaguba, Loiuse Michael, Dylan Thomas, Mason Abrogast, Jordan 1.​ CALL TO ORDER: 7:03pm 2.​ APPROVE MINUTES: Moved by Jordan 3.​ REPORTS a.​ CITY COUNCIL: Loiuse talked to a representative from the City Council. The Commission was asked to provide a budget. b.​ BOPARC: Mason reported on behalf of BOPARC representative. There are no updates from the January meeting 4.​ FOLLOW-UP ITEMS a.​ Events Planning Updates: Louise suggested to collaborate with the existing food drives by the County Commissioner. It supplies food to over 550 families in Morgantown. b.​ Review of 2022 Food Insecurity survey: Sabina share results from the city-wide survey conducted by her and the former President, Kimberly Kelly in 2022 on food insecurity. Ten percent of persons in Morgantown had used a food pantry. Those who worried about food were more likely to use a food pantry. It was agreed to focus on addressing food insecurity as the first project of the year for the Commission. ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ c.​ Survey Review with Work to Complete New: Mason shared a prototype online survey intended to elicit: the interest of Morgantown residents in engagement with the city, perceptions about the city and its resources, and interest in volunteering for the Commission. Suggested additions included travel barriers and facilitators to engage in events. For survey distribution, flyers and using the City’s central survey distribution channel were proposed. d.​ Funding and Community Partnership Updates: Dylan reached out to ARC. The representative from ARC noted that they were focused on Economic Development and Workforce growth, which is outside the scope of the Commission’s mission. He has also been reviewing PIVOT platform for other opportunities. e.​ Review Posts Ideas and Social Media: Alexandria shared sample posts for Social Media based on the annual seasons and daily posts for a month. Mason demoed a Microsoft Social Media post planner. It was well received by Commission members. Jordan suggested to also leverage social media to publicize city Wellness events and resources, such as walks, gardening. Facebook and Instagram would be the Commission’s focus for social media broadcast. Mason suggested that newsletter might also be a useful channel. 5.​ NEW BUSINESS a.​ Strategic Plan: It was agreed that review of the Strategic Plan would be best done during an in-person meeting.
