Call Meeting to Order
The regular meeting was called to order by Chair Rios at 7:01 p.m.
Introduction of Guests/Visitors
Richard Teals was present to discuss a request for a trail to be named after Joe Rogers. Also present was
Mr. Teals’ brother, Robert Teals. Additional guests included Department Secretary’s husband Ryan
Escure. The new Department Secretary, Pam Escure was also introduced.
Approval of Minutes of Prior Meeting
Ms. Quilter moved the draft minutes of June 14, 2017, be approved as submitted. Motion was seconded
by Mr. Tracey. Motion unanimously approved and passed.
Communication/Correspondence
None.
Program Promotion – Monthly Update
Ms. Schwiesow reviewed the MAC program that they had last weekend and indicated that they made over
$3,000 on their event. Updates were given regarding the two (2) new employees, Pam Escure and Carrie
Hoiness. Ms. Schwiesow also provided updated information about the new program Active Net going
online starting August 29, 2017, and that we are in the process of getting the new staff up to date and
trained.
Naming/Renaming City Facilities – Approved by City Council
Mr. Richard Teals from TPT presented his request to have a trail named in honor of Joe Rogers for all of
the outstanding work he did for the community and the TPT. Discussion was held. Motion was made by
Ms. Quilter to make the trail named as the Joe Rogers trail. Motion was seconded by Mr. Maynard.
Motion unanimously approved and passed. Mr. Teals further commented and thanked the council. Mr.
Teals also advised that there will be a dedication for the trail on September 16, 2017, from 10:00-12:00 at
the college. Mr. Teals indicated that there will be some fun festivities at the dedication for all to share.
Discussion followed. Mr. Teals presented a proposed sign for the City which would mark the trail.

Plat Reviews/Dedication, or Fee in Lieu of Land – Monthly Update
None.
Director’s Report
Staffing – Update
Mr. Grigg indicates interviews were done this past week and Thomas Moschner will be starting right after
Labor Day for the open maintenance position. Discussion held.
Surf ‘n Slide – Update
Mr. Grigg indicates that due to fair week, attendance is lower this week. School sports will also start
pulling kids from the pool as well. Families are also trying to get that last vacation in before school starts
and that also may affect attendance at the pool. Mr. Grigg further reports that Tacos Mi Casa has done
very well this year. No complaints have been made at all this season with regard to Tacos Mi Casa.
Discussion held.
Events – Update
Mr. Grigg indicated that since this is fair week, there are not many events to report. There is a private
pool rental scheduled for this weekend. Mr. Grigg also indicated that there will be a new date set for the
MLPD and Grant County Sheriff baseball game. Mr. Grigg also indicated that we will soon start thinking
about the ice rink. Mr. Grigg provided updates on the plans for the park outside the Japanese Garden.
Discussion held regarding the chip sealing and trees being trimmed. Also discussed was the parking lot at
the ice rink that was damaged during this last winter. Mr. Grigg indicated that federal relief was applied
for and was granted which will be a big help in the right direction. Discussion further held.

Ms. Quilter moved to adjourn. Motion seconded by Mr. Maynard. Meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
