Town of Mount Airy Water and Sewer Commission Meeting Minutes – April 2, 2014 Commission members in attendance: Dick Swanson, Council Liaison Chris Everich, Fred Goundry, and Kelley Moxley. Minutes: Chris Everich moved to approve the minutes of the March 5, 2014 meeting. Seconded by Fred Goundry and approved by unanimous vote. Old Business: FY 2015 W&S Budget: After reviewing the latest data on the 2015 W&S budget, current usage, and current rates, by unanimous vote the Commission voted to send a memorandum to to the Mayor and Town Council stating that “Based on the most current data and estimated revenue and expenses for the Water Department and the Sewer Department for FY 2015, the Water and Sewer Commission recommends to the Town Council that the current water and sewer rates be extended for one year through June 30, 2015.” FOG Ordinance Implementation: Dick Swanson announced that the Town received a request for a FOG variance. The Commission agreed that a process should be established to administer requests and make recommendations to the Town Council. The W&S will work on the administrative process at its May meeting. Stormwater Management: Dick Swanson announced to the Commission that Carroll County will hold a second meeting on April 17th between the County Commissioners and the municipalities to further discuss stormwater management issues. Carroll County recommends that municipalities sign on to the County's draft memorandum of intent and work together to meet new MDE stormwater permit requirements. New Business: Chris Everich reported that the Town's water management system noticed a significant increase in water usage by a large water user and is working with the property owner to assist in leak detection and corrective action. Adjournment: Chris Everich moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Kelley Moxley and passed by unanimous vote. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.
