Ms. Harvey shared the proposal from a College of Charleston
graduate that the Commission had all selected through a series of
emails. She said the sculpture would be getting worked on and then
installed. Ms. Harvey asked Ms. Thomas if she had talked with the
School of the Arts.
Ms. Thomas said she emailed Ms. Anne Cimballa and she said
she was interested and was waiting to hear back from her.
Ms. Harvey said after the holidays they should plan a
conference call with her and discuss the logistics and budget.
c. Town Hall Art
Ms. Harvey shared the Town Hall Art submissions with the
Commission. She said one of the submissions would not be
appropriate for Town Hall and another series by Ms. Kris Manning
may need a separate exhibition due to the size. She discussed Holy
City Arts and Lyric Opera (HALO) being at the Mayor’s Music and
Art reception.
The Commission discussed and agreed to use all the
submissions except the one not appropriate for Town Hall and Ms.
Kris Manning’s with the plan to discuss a special display.
d. Traffic Box Art
Ms. Harvey asked to defer Traffic Box Art until January or
February as they cannot be installed in the cold weather and there
was not a lot of submissions.
e. Performing Arts
Mr. Dunnells said they as a committee need to review the
formal application to open the submissions.
Ms. Harvey said she and the subcommittee need to work on it
together to get it completed.
f. Sweetgrass Basket Stand Project
Mr. Alston said they completed one additional stand and primed
some others. He discussed finishing a couple of the stands and
said the Towne Centre stands would probably take a full day.

h. Marketing
Ms. Harvey said they have been doing their best and had help from
a Marketing Coordinator and Communications staff. She said that
when they hire the new Administrative Assistant in January, they
want to focus on artist spotlights and other informative avenues.
4. New Business
Mr. Alston said Culture, Arts & Pride (CAP) was busy and asked
about having a logo designed for CAP to put on the projects they have
completed.
Ms. Harvey said they had discussed it in the past. She said they do
not have a logo specifically for CAP, but they have used the Town logo
and put Culture, Arts & Pride Commission underneath it. She said they
could explore it and have an art contest. She said she would need to get
approval for this.
Ms. McGahey said she had problems referring to CAP as CAP
instead of Culture, Arts & Pride as people do not know what it is. She
thought it would be easier for people to understand if it was spelled out.
Ms. Harvey discussed having the CAP meetings first week of each
month. She said she will send out email for input.
5. Adjourn
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 1:02 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Karen Bedenbaugh, 12/1/21
