CULTURE, ARTS & PRIDE COMMISSION Wednesday, June 29, 2023 3:30 PM Municipal Complex, Committee Meeting Room (3300) 100 Ann Edwards Lane Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 Minutes Present: Kathryn Whitaker, Chair; Corey Alston; Chase Barrett; Nicole Seitz; Brad Dunnells; Bren Monteiro; Charles Lauer Staff Present: Nicole Harvey; Danielle Fraser; Steve Gergick; Tracy Richter Called to Order at 3:30 pm 1. Approval of Minutes from the May 3, 2023 meeting Mr. Alston motioned to approve and Ms. Monteiro seconded; all in favor. 2. Public Comments There were no comments from the public. 3. Report from Subcommittees a. Community/Performing Arts Ms. Monteiro gave an update. Ms. Whitaker talked about a swing space and working with an artistic director. Ms. Monteiro talked about being inclusive and fair in the Request for Proposal (RFP) process and discussion followed regarding the vision for the community arts center and how to move forward. Mr. Gergick informed the commission about the current budget for a performing arts center and offered for the Telephone (843) 884-8517 - Fax (843) 856-2180 www.tompsc.com  commission’s consideration that a potential space may be available within the Rifle Range Road project. Discussion followed. b. Student Art Ms. Harvey gave an update. c. Town Hall Art (1) Selection/Next Meeting Date Ms. Harvey asked about future meeting dates. (2) Reception Date Ms. Harvey gave an update. d. Marketing Ms. Harvey welcomed Ms. Fraser back and said social media posting will increase now that she has returned. 4. New Business There was no new business.
