CULTURE, ARTS & PRIDE COMMISSION Wednesday, August 2, 2023 12:00 PM Municipal Complex, Committee Meeting Room (3300) 100 Ann Edwards Lane Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 Minutes Present: Kathryn Whitaker, Chair; Brad Dunnells; Chase Barrett; Nicole Seitz; Bren Romano Monteiro; Chuck Lauer Absent: Corey Alston Staff present: Nicole Harvey, Danielle Fraser The meeting was called to order at 12:05 p.m. AGENDA 1. Approval of Minutes from the June 29, 2023 meeting Ms. Seitz motioned to approved and seconded by Ms. Romano Monteiro; all in favor. 2. Public Comments Marie Louise Moretto (1133 Liberty Court) stated, as president of the Mount Pleasant Community Arts Center Committee, that her organization has done extensive research on art centers throughout the south and asked that the Commission meet with her organization as well as with other active art organizations to determine the needs of all the arts communities. Discussion followed. 3. Report from Subcommittees a. Town Hall Art Ms. Whitaker began the review of the 72 pieces of art that were submitted for exhibition at Town Hall and asked the group to narrow down the selection as space permitted. Discussion followed. c. Student Art Ms. Whitaker asked about meeting with the teachers and Ms. Harvey advised that she is waiting for replies from the teachers. 4. New Business Ms. Harvey stated that September 9th or 16th may be the next workday for the sweetgrass basket stands. 5.
