TOWN OF MOUNT PLEASANT, SOUTH CAROLINA RECREATION ADVISORY COMMISSION Tuesday August 22, 2023, 1:00pm Council Chambers 100 Ann Edwards Lane Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 Minutes Present: Perry Rourk, Chair; Tripp Cuttino; Ken Ayoub; Keely Enright; Greer Hanlon; Renken Carlin; Frederick Rodewoldt; John Dodds; Michelle Cormack (remote); Kevin Kollegger (remote) Absent: April Gift Staff present: Steve Gergick, Jimmy Millar I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 1:00pm. II. Approval of minutes from the July 25th, 2023 Recreation Advisory Commission Meeting Mr. Ayoub motioned to approve and seconded by Tripp Cuttino; all in favor. III. Public Comment There were no public comments. IV. Discussion regarding the Town of Mount Pleasant and CCSD Facility Use Agreement. Mr. Gergick provided an update on the Town of Mount Pleasant and the Charleston County School District (CCSD) Facility Use Agreement. Discussion followed. V. Update on Recreation Referendum and MPRD Capital and Maintenance Projects. Mr. Gergick gave an update on the Carolina Park project. Mr. Gergick updated the commission on the project at Memorial Waterfront Park. Mr. Gergick continued with updates on the project at Rifle Range Road and the Park West Pool renovation. Mr. Rourk asked about the project at Whipple Road and Mr. Gergick responded. Mr. Gergick advised that the floors in the Jones Center locker rooms were redone and that the Jones Center basketball court flooring will be resurfaced in the fall. Mr. Ayoub asked how the ongoing construction at Waterfront Park affected the Sweetgrass Festival and how it would affect parking at the Blessing of the Fleet. Mr. Gergick responded. Mr. Rourk asked if the Town has access to the parking garage adjacent to the Memorial Waterfront Park area near the Bank of America building and Mr. Gergick responded that the public does have access to it. Mr. Rodewoldt asked if there will be concession stands at Carolina Park and Mr. Gergick responded. Discussion followed. Mr. Rourk asked about the cost of the bollards and putting them at Cheryl Woods Flowers. Mr. Gergick responded. Mr. Rourk asked when the sod was put down and Mr. Gergick responded. Discussion followed on the designated areas of Carolina Park. VI. Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at 1:56pm.
