TOWN OF MOUNT PLEASANT, SOUTH CAROLINA HISTORIC DISTRICT PRESERVATION COMMISSION SEPTEMBER 14, 2020 MINUTES Attachment 1—Staff Report Present: John Hackenberg, Robert Crosland, Gene Gallogly, Corey Barber Absent: Louisa Montgomery Staff: Austin Rutherford, Lynnette Lynes Mr. Rutherford called the meeting to order at 5:06 pm and stated that a temporary chair would need to be appointed. The Commission agreed that Mr. Crosland would chair the meeting. 1. Approval of Agenda Mr. Crosland moved for approval of the agenda. Mr. Gallogly seconded the motion. All in favor. 2. Approval of Minutes Mr. Gallogly moved for approval. Mr. Hackenberg seconded the motion. All in favor. 3. Correspondence All correspondence was forwarded to the Commission. 4. Public Comment There being no comments, Mr. Crosland continued with the agenda. 5. Consent Motion Mr. Gallogly moved for consent approval of the following items: ➢ 135 Hibben Street – Historic 6229/Survey 6229.01 – (TMS 532-01-00-007) Applicant is seeking Final Review for enclosing a rear covered porch and a new deck. Correspondence Mr. Crosland seconded the motion. All in favor. 6. Business A. 135 Hibben Street – Historic 6229/Survey 6229.01 – (TMS 532-01-00-007) Applicant is seeking Final Review for enclosing a rear covered porch and a new deck. This item was approved through a consent motion. B. 126 Hibben Street – Survey 6221 – (TMS 517-15-00-070) Applicant is seeking Final Review for demolition of an existing shed, construction of a new shed and pool, and various site features. Correspondence Mr. Rutherford reviewed staff comments with the Commission (attachment 1). Mr. Glen Gardner reviewed the request with the Commission. There being no comments, Mr. Crosland closed public comment. Mr. Barber moved for approval with the condition that the living fence is not PVC coated; for front fence design it is understood that the posts remain and the arbor of front fence is removed. Mr. Crosland seconded the motion. All in favor with Mr. Hackenberg abstaining. C. 203 Center Street – Historic 6058/Survey 6058.01 – (TMS 532-13-00-019) Applicant is seeking Final Review for the demolition of a shed and addition of a terrace, pool, and new shed. Correspondence Ms. Campbell asked for deferral of the request. Mr. Rutherford reviewed staff comments with the Commission (attachment 1). Ms. Kate Campbell reviewed the request with the Commission. Correspondence This item was approved through a consent motion. E. 734 Pitt Street – Historic 5957 – (TMS 532-09-00-071) Applicant is seeking Final Review for gutters and an accessory carport. Correspondence Mr. Rutherford reviewed staff comments with the Commission (attachment 1). Ms. Jaclyn Curtis reviewed the request with the Commission. There being no comments, Mr. Crosland closed public comment. Mr. Gallogly moved for approval of the paint color as presented. Mr. Crosland seconded the motion. All in favor. 7. Mr. Rutherford reviewed staff approvals with the Commission. 8. Discussion of Items for Next Agenda The Commission discussed items for next month’s agenda and agreed that the following should be added to the agenda: ➢ Discussion of amending requirements for porches. ➢ Properties for Historic Designation 9.
