Present: Robert Crosland, Gene Gallogly, Corey Barber, Louisa Montgomery.
Absent: John Hackenberg.
Staff: Austin Rutherford, Lynnette Lynes
Mr. Rutherford called the meeting to order at 5:01 pm and asked for a
motion for temporary chair.
The Commission agreed that Ms. Montgomery would serve as temporary chair.
I. Approval of Agenda
Mr. Crosland moved for approval of the agenda. Mr. Gallogly seconded the
motion. All in favor.
II. Correspondence
Mr. Rutherford stated that all correspondence was received and included with
the agenda.
III. All Public Comment
Mr. Todd Bealls, 202 Middle Street, expressed objection to having their
property designated as historic.
Mr. Jonathan Holmes, 130 Middle Street, expressed objection to having their
property designated as historic. He suggested that each home should be
individually evaluated on historic significance.
Ms. Ashley Woody, 110 Friend Street, expressed concern with the process for
historic designation. She suggested that because of newer construction, her lot
tends to flood and having a historic designation could mean the home could not be

elevated. She asked that discussion of her home be deferred so that she and her
husband can evaluate the consequences of the historic designation.
Mr. George Brice, 834 Pitt Street, stated that his home was significantly renovated
in the late 1990s and suggested that because of this, the home should no longer be
considered historic.
Ms. Iris Brown, 320 Morrison Street, stated that she would like more
information on the items being considered and the reasoning behind the
designation.
Ms. Jennifer short, 102 Pitt St, expressed objection with her structure being
designated as historic.
Mr. Rett Guerry, 340 Middle Street, expressed objection to the home being
considered historic.
There being no further comments, Ms. Montgomery continued with the agenda.

designation. Ms. Montgomery seconded the motion. Motion passed on a 3 to
1 vote with Mr. Gallogly, Ms. Montgomery, and Mr. Crosland in favor; Mr.
Barber opposed.

Ms. Montgomery called for a vote on the motion. Motion passed on a 3 to1
vote with Mr. Gallogly, Ms. Montgomery, and Mr. Crosland in favor; Mr.
Barber opposed.
