TOWN OF MOUNT PLEASANT, SOUTH CAROLINA HISTORICAL COMMISSION OCTOBER 10, 2019 MINUTES Green arrows are hyperlinks to the recording Present: Richard Gutowski, Chair, Patrick Morrissey, Deborah Sutherland, Courtney Theis, Antonio White, Theresa Gordon. Staff: Kate Dolan, Lynnette Lynes, Jane Yager-Baumrind Mr. Gutowski called the meeting to order at 8:00 am. I. Approval of Agenda Mr. Morrissey moved to approve the agenda. Ms. Sutherland second the motion. All in favor. II. Approval of Minutes Ms. Sutherland moved to approve the minutes. Mr. Morrissey second the motion. All in favor. III. Public Comment Ms. Vanessa Hill, 1384 Old Brickyard Road, updated the Commission regarding Butterfly Lake. IV. Staff Update Ms. Dolan reviewed the staff update with the Commission V. Committee Action Items A. Public Education Committee 1. Black History Month Mr. Brown and Mr. White updated the Commission on the schedule for Black History Month.  Historic Commission Meeting October 10, 2019 Page 2 of 2 2. Near Field Communication (NFC) Ms. Sutherland discussed the logos to be used with the Commission. B. Historical Marker Committee 1. Brickyard Markers Texts – Forever Chimney and Butterfly Lake Mr. Morrissey moved to keep Historical Marks on the agenda for next month. Ms. Sutherland seconded the motion. All in favor. C. Special Collection Committee Mr. Gutowski discussed having volunteers help with organization of the history room. Mr. Morrissey stated that he would reach out to those that have already contacted the Commission. D. Tourism Committee No update. E. Organization and Administration Committee 1. Historical Pictures Ms. Theis updated the Commission on the historic photos she has gathered to be used by the Commission for social media. VI. Agenda Items for Next Meeting The Commission agreed that the following items should be discussed at the November meeting: ➢ Edmund Jenkins Report ➢ Charleston Tour guidebook ➢ Near Field Communication ➢ Cresco award There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:58 am.
