CALL TO ORDER Chair Lopez called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present 5- Max Beckman-Harned, Vice Chair Phyllis Bismanovsky, Paul Donahue, Chair Nicole Vogt and Elena Lopez 3. MINUTES APPROVAL M/S Beckman-Harned/Vogt to approve the Library Board minutes of the December 17, 2018 meeting. Motion failed due to pending modifications and edits. Yes: 0 No: 5- Beckman-Harned, Vice Chair Bismanovsky, Donahue, Chair Vogt and Lopez 4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC A member of the public asked for details about downloading ebooks. 5. DONATIONS Motion - M/S Bismanovsky/Donahue to accept the donations. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 5- Beckman-Harned, Vice Chair Bismanovsky, Donahue, Chair Vogt and Lopez 6. NEW BUSINESS City of Mountain View Page 1 Library Board Minutes January 14, 2019 6.1 Election of Chair and Vice Chair Nomination/Election of Chair Trustee Beckman-Harned nominated Nicole Vogt for Chair. Trustee Donahue seconded the nomination. By unanimous vote, Nicole Vogt was selected as Chair. Nomination/Election of Vice Chair Trustee Donahue nominated Phyllis Bismanovsky for Vice Chair. Trustee Lopez seconded the nomination. By unanimous vote, Phyllis Bismanovsky was selected as Vice Chair. 6.2 Library Exhibits Policy Attachments: Policy General discussion of the Library Exhibits Policy with some suggested changes; agreed to have staff revise and add changes and suggestions and Library Director will bring those to the February meeting. 6.3 Customer Survey Discussion of possibility of implementing a customer survey; discussed what the Board would want to learn from a survey; brainstormed possible questions and possible feedback the Board would want to know. 7. BOARD/STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS, UPDATES, REQUESTS, AND COMMITTEE REPORTS Trustee Donahue mentioned that the San Mateo County Library system has now gone fine free. 7.1 Director's Report Attachments: Report Director Gray updated the Library Board regarding current recruitments. 8. AGENDA SETTING/PLANNING - February meeting: Continue discussion of Library Exhibits policy; presentation by either Adult Services, Children’s Services, or Support Services - March meeting: Teen Librarian presentation - Future meeting: Customer survey 9. ADJOURNMENT - At 8:34 p.m. Chair Vogt adjourned the meeting to the next regular Library Board meeting to be held on February 11, 2019. City of Mountain View Page 2
