8. A presentation on the Regional Naugatuck River Greenway Study was given
by Samuel Gold from the Council of Governments, Phil Goff from Alta Planning
& Design and Kent Schwendy, Fuss O’Neill. It is a proposed 22 mile regional
trail running along side the Naugatuck River from Thomaston to Beacon Falls.
The greenway is planned to be 3.3 miles through Naugatuck with three river trail
crossings. South of Breen Field to Linden Park is recommended for development
first. They suggest having a group embrace the project tying the river to the
community. This group could then seek federal funds for various stages of
development.
