BOARD OF MAYOR AND BURGESSES
SPECIAL MEETING
JUNE 22, 2011
1. Mayor Robert A. Mezzo called the special meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. with the
following in attendance:

2. Mayor Mezzo led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
3. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Deputy Mayor Rossi and seconded
by Burgess Burns to recess to Executive Session at 6:01 p.m. for
discussion on the following: Personnel (Town Clerk) inviting in
Jeannette Deschesnes, Human Resources Director.
Mayor Mezzo reconvened the meeting at 6:10 p.m.
4. The following motion emanated from Executive Session.
VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Deputy Mayor Rossi and seconded
by Burgess Burns that the Board of Mayor and Burgesses authorize
Mayor Mezzo to enter into an agreement with Town Clerk Elect
Michelle Dowling to clarify certain compensation to be defined by
a document to be created by Borough Counsel.
5. Discussion regarding the date and location(s) for the 2011/2012 Budget
Referendum.
6. Motion by Deputy Mayor Rossi and seconded by Burgess Burns that the Board of
Mayor and Burgesses set Tuesday, July 19, 2011 between the hours of 6:00 a.m.
and 8:00 p.m. as the date and time for the referendum, to be held at the
Naugatuck Train Station/Historical Society.

7. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Deputy Mayor Rossi and seconded
by Burgess Scully that the Board of Mayor and Burgesses approve
the following questions to appear on the ballot:
“Shall the Town Operating Budget of $48,548,765 for the Borough of Naugatuck
for the fiscal year 2011/2012 be adopted?
Yes
No- Too High
No- Too Low
“Shall the Board of Education Budget of $57,000,000 for the Borough of
Naugatuck for the fiscal year 2011/2012 be adopted?
Yes
No- Too High
No- Too Low
8. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Deputy Mayor Rossi and seconded
by Burgess Scully that the Board of Mayor and Burgesses
authorize Mayor Mezzo to execute all contracts and related
documents for a Youth Services Grant Application.
9. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Deputy Mayor Rossi and seconded
by Burgess Scully to adjourn the special meeting at 6:21 p.m.
