MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING BOARD OF MAYOR AND BURGESSES JULY 29, 2013 1. Mayor Robert A. Mezzo called the special meeting to order at 5:55 p.m. with the following in attendance: BURGESSES: PRESS: T. K. Rossi C. Ernsky, absent A. Malik M. Bronko, absent L. Jackson E. Gugliotti R. Burns R. Neth M. Ciacciarella, absent P. Scully, Sr. RESIDENTS: Four DEPARTMENT HEADS: J. Stewart, Public Works Director J. Kallipolites, IT Director J. Tindall-Gibson, BOE Superintendent R. Butler, Controller E. Murray, Deputy Fire Chief K. Hanks, Fire Chief OTHERS: D. Sheridan, Finance Board W. Malicki, Fire Commission M. Katra, Finance Board J. Ziplow, Blum Shapiro D. Scinto, Finance Board D. Barone, Blum Shapiro S. Stirk, Finance Board E. Carter, Mayoral Aide A. Pistarelli, Finance Board 2. Mayor Mezzo led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. 3. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Deputy Mayor Rossi and seconded by Burgess Scully to recess to Executive Session at 5:56 p.m. for discussion on the following: Collective Bargaining (Chapter 90). No one outside of the board was invited in. Mayor Mezzo reconvened the meeting at 5:58 p.m. 4. The following motions emanated from Executive Session. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Deputy Mayor Rossi and seconded by Burgess Neth that the Board of Mayor and Burgesses authorize Mayor Robert Mezzo to enter into a memorandum of agreement between the Borough of Naugatuck and the Borough of Naugatuck Supervisors Chapter 90 C.S.E.A., Inc./SEIU, AFL-CIO, Local 760 with regard to Naugatuck Youth and Family Services. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Deputy Mayor Rossi and seconded by Burgess Burns that the Board of Mayor and Burgesses authorize Mayor Robert Mezzo to enter into a memorandum of agreement between the -2- Minutes – Board of Mayor and Burgesses Special Meeting – July 29, 2013 Borough of Naugatuck and the Borough of Naugatuck Supervisors Chapter 90 C.S.E.A., Inc./SEIU, AFL-CIO, Local 2001 regarding the Animal Control Officer Position. For the record: Mayor Mezzo: “Both of these pertain to existing arrangements with the bargaining unit to allow us not to fill the Animal Control Officer and the Director of Youth and Family, providing stipends for work to be completed by members of the bargaining unit.” 5. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Deputy Mayor Rossi and seconded by Burgess Scully to adjourn the meeting at 5:59 p.m. A digital recording of this meeting is available in the office of the Borough Clerk for further review.
