COMMISSION ON PUBLIC WORKS/UTILITIES COUNCIL ROOM JANUARY 13, 2015 6:45 P.M. The Commission on Public Works/Utilities met in regular session, Chair Horn presiding. On roll call: Mayor Mabie absent, all other members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were declared approved. Director of Public Works Flynn reported on two burials at the cemetery, equipment maintenance, maintaining Christmas decorations, the new bobcat with attachments for the cemetery/parks department arrived before Christmas, one plow hookup frame is being rebuilt (structural cracking of the steel from hitting unmarked obstructions), the Freightliner dump truck is in for repairs (engine codes keep popping up causing the truck to lose power), hauling brush and compost, picking up Christmas trees, straightening signs, snow removal, salting, sanding roads and sidewalks, filling potholes on Division Street, Scott Elmhorst Excavating has all the above ground walls down on the Buck’s Dollar Bar demolition and will start work on the floor and below ground later this week when the weather warms up. Roehl, Clerk ************ COMMON COUNCIL COUNCIL ROOM JANUARY 13, 2015 7:00 P.M. The Common Council met in regular session, Acting Mayor Glassbrenner presiding. On roll call: Mayor Mabie absent, all other members present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The minutes of the previous meeting were declared approved. Council Member Quicker reported on the January 5, 2015 meeting of the Library Board regarding review, discussion and approval of the carpet installation proposal from Russell’s of Neillsville with contingency funds for addressing subflooring issues and leasing a dumpster. Council Member Clough reported on the January 12, 2015 meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission regarding: 1) discussion on the 2015 Historic Preservation calendars – what to do with the remaining calendars, giving a calendar to participating businesses, and sending thank- you letter to WCCN for donating air time for advertising the calendars, 2) discussed the guidelines for distributing calendar sale money to the community, and 3) authorized payment for installation of two posts with plaques. Council Member Horn reported on the January 13, 2015 meeting of the Commission on Public Works/Utilities regarding current activities. Acting Mayor Glassbrenner declared all reports filed as presented with the City Clerk. Motion Quicker, second Horn, to accept Mayor Mabie’s recommendation and appoint Jill Neville (2017) as a member of the Library Board. All Aye. Chief of Police Klueckmann reported on December, 2014 complaints, citations, warnings, arrests and investigations, and yearly totals for the same. Klueckmann reported that the server and computers have arrived and are being set up, with the switchover taking place shortly, the body cameras have arrived, the department’s Facebook page is very popular and a dedicated Police Department website is in the planning, Officer King is in his second week of training with Training Officer Bembnister, Detective Pokallus is taking time off due to issues involving his son’s skiing accident, the department participated in the “Shop with a Cop” event at the Neillsville Shopko, on January 8, 2015 a vehicle was stolen from the Hansen’s IGA parking lot by the same person who stole a vehicle in Athens and robbed a bank in Missouri, making it a federal case now.
