VILLAGE OF NICHOLS -- Board Meeting April 8, 2025 Call to Order: by President Terry Scheller at 6:00 p.m., with Trustees Mark Simpson, Jerry Krull, Rebecca Gottsacker, and Kathy Krull present. Also present was Roger Ort, RoseMary Stingle, Julie Schwarz, Mark Wilkinson, Deanna Wilkinson, Jerry Fuss, Michelle Hewitt, Tyler Heiman (Northeast Asphalt), John Carpenter (MCC), Travis Schroeder, Robert Powell, Vince Albin (Spectrum). Agenda: Motion by Kathy/Mark to approve the agenda, carried. Minutes: Motion by Becky/Jerry to approve the March 11, 2025, minutes, carried. Treasurer’s Report/Bank Statements: Motion by Kathy/Becky to approve, carried. Bills to Approve/VISA statement: Motion by Kathy/Becky to approve the bills paid on Village checks #19574–19598, carried. Black Creek Police / Municipal Court Reports: (none) Water & Sewer Report (Roger):  All dead trees are cut down in village park and now looking for a stump grinder and a plan of what to plant.  WWTP plant will conduct a wet test this month.  Dumpster will be here in June.  Contacted John at KES to fix the raised pedestals because of trip hazard. Will come out to correct. Unfinished Business:  LRIP bids opened from Northeast Asphalt and MCC at 6:15 pm.  Reviewed bids and accepted Northeast Asphalt’s and Terry Scheller signed contract. Motion by Terry/Becky, carried.  Project to be completed by October 31, New Business:  We still need updated paperwork to change the current agent on liquor license. Currently, Joseph Wilkinson needs to be changed to Deanna Wilkinson.  Lease for W5639 is held by Tyler Barth until June 1, 2025, with the possibility of longer and W5635 held by Mark Wilkinson until May 2025. Jerry Fuss to contact MSA inspector to have W5639 checked to make sure all is safe. Gave Stephanie Potter’s number to Jerry Fuss.  Jerry Fuss & Michelle Hewitt are working together to solve the water problem between their properties.  Vince Albin from Spectrum wants to add new fiber between County Road F & Fahrenkrug behind the polls in back yards. Alley ways no longer exist for access. Terry  Scheller to reach out to Nichols MHP and have them contact Vince for access. Rose will give Vince Albin property owners information so he can be granted access by them individually.  Application for beer license to Nichols Athletic Association motion by Mark/Becky, Jerry and Kathy abstained from voting.  Applications for Operator’s license: Elizabeth Gloede and Kassandra Bergner approved, motion by Kathy/Becky, carried.  The board approved Roger Ort split for pay to be as follows: 60% WWTP, 15% Streets, 5% Parks and 20% Water. This is as of January 1, 2025. Motion by Terry/Kathy, carried.  Whistle Inn would like to use the south end of Railroad Street for parking. Terry is to talk with Whistle Inn regarding them giving us a plan and having barricades, so people do not park or drive on Nichols Paper’s land. Whistle needs to reach out to Nichols Paper to keep them in the loop. Will put on agenda for next meeting with new information.  Swore in new Board Members from April 1, 2025, election and signed oaths.
