Goals for site – assess access points and site issues; define goals for project
Proposed Norman Site
• Soil is conducive to compacting and already has undulations to establish flowlines
• Goal will be to maintain the contours to work with existing drainage patterns in
order to maintain course more easily.
• Site lines for emergency management (e.g. access for EMS, Police)

Next Steps
Establish the line of trail possible, where off-shoots are possible
Identify where intermediate and advanced areas
Connections off site to promote cycling to the park
Look at having volunteers create the ‘everybody’ trail connections (weedwhacker and flatten
earth); save creating/constructing the jumps for Progressive Ramps to build
Address ADA access and Adaptive Chair/Cycle use on trails
Options to use whole park, potentially use alternate path on tricky jumps if needed.
Q: How do the dirt banks hold up to weather/rain?
A: Where stabilization is needed there are constructed elements to prevent erosion, etc.
Otherwise dirt banks can handle weather (with maintenance)
Q: We will likely need some kind of training for volunteers to maintain the track correctly, is that
possible?
A: Yes, after opening a training session on maintenance could be scheduled.
Comment from staff: This site is hoped to be popular. Therefore, some of the budget will need to
be included for some parking. 24th St is planned for widening and an access point there may be
ideal as the access to the alley is private.
Q: What can our budget get us?
A: The determination will be how much of a playground areas is wanted. There is the ability to
have trail all over the site, then we figure out how many features can be added within budget.
Discussion: Pump track option
If pump track was to be included – ideally will be hardscaped. This would be an alternative space
to practice skills if the trail was muddy.
Comment: There is a good pump track in OKC, we may not want to create another one and use
that space/$$ for more jump features, etc.
The next stage will be approximately 30 days the American Ramp Association will have some
layout options to present at a public meeting. This may be a separate meeting from the Norman
BAC and the hope will be to get more participation.
Comment: An additional option is to post a pdf of draft layouts to CiviComment
(https://www.civicomment.com/)
Free option: https://www.civicomment.com/get-started-free/
This space allows people to fluidly comment on images easily. Comments can be
compiled more easily for use as well. (1 free option per organization)
