Norwich Recreation Advisory Board Special Meeting January 17, 2023, 6pm Rose City Senior Center 8 Mahan Drive Minutes Attendance: Jeff Brown (Advisory Board Chair), Grant Neuendorf (Advisory Board), Derell Wilson (Advisory Board), Bob Kilpatrick (Youth, Family, & Recreation), Kate Milde (Norwich Human Services), Tom Pietruczuk (Norwich Legion Baseball), Glenn Costello (Sacred Heart), Karen Redanz (Norwich Youth Soccer Club), Kara Kochanski (Advisory Board), Lamar Mikel (DHW Athletics), Pat McLaughlin, (Norwich Public Works), Darek Pietruczuk (Norwich Little League), Roy Wentworth (NFA), Matt Simpson (PAL), Rhonda Exum (NYFL Cheer), Lou Allen (Norwich Public Schools), Derrick Smith (Norwich Youth Football League), Josh Seals (Champions Karate) 6:00 PM - Call to order: Jeff Brown, Second Grant Neundorf Purpose of the Meeting: Helping structure and improve recreational services in Norwich Introductions: Names & organizations listed above Ideas shared for the city moving forward:  Scheduling has been an issue. Need one platform for all facilities usage.  Many fields are poor and need maintenance.  Football Field needs maintenance and finish landscaping.  National Champion Norwich Youth cheerleaders have nowhere to practice in Norwich that is free of charge.  PAL fields can be shared/used if not in use by PAL by contacting PAL.  There is nowhere to play soccer or practice on a net. Nets are taken down.  Surrounding towns have higher quality fields and spaces for recreation.  AAU is getting fields over local nonprofit Norwich groups.  Turf or multi-sport fields are needed.  Survey is needed about scheduling and field use.  Pool is needed.
